I also starting making measurements for mounting my MA Audio 6X9's
can't wait to see this!
Umm .... I have a question for you.
Why did you chop the front off the mirage ?
All the parts from the evo bolt on to that car from stock. The guards and bumper support just need to be modified thats all.
went from LHD to RHD
Yes but you can still do that without cutting the front off :)
They do that conversion here with a few american cars easily enough.
To be honest with you I would have figured there was a much easier way to do it, you could have just swapped out everything from the evo4 cut and put it into the mirage (lancer) with much less stress and hassle. Plus the structual integrity of the car would be much better.
Even swapping the drive from LHD to RHD would have been a snap, all you need to do is cut a hole on the other side, take the evo 4 parts off, put them into the mirage, weld up the hole for the original parts and bam you're done.... well for the most part.
If you would of read some of my posts instead of just looking at the posts you would know why.
My aprons were rusted all the way through in the front as well as a few structure points, Considering i needed to go RHD to fix my AC/Heat and wire harness issue i figured replacing the whole front becuase of the rust would be more sufficient.
I actually just strengthened to weakest part of the Evo/Mirage.
I did read that, but cutting and welding the front end is a far bigger job than repairing the rust. Plus it does make the front end weaker in the long run.
You could have still gone RHD and fixed your other issues quite easily, just by swapping the evo parts over.
However, I do see where you are coming from, to me there would have been a different way to go, but everyone has differnt ideas.
In the end it will be what you want it to be, so as long as you're happy with it :D
not really The pictures don't do it justice that and the prev owner spay canned it to cover the rust.
It was just to much work, this was allot faster 2 give you any idea ive only put about 8 hours of work into this car to get it to where you see it.
some pics, wiring in the interior is done besides fitting the ecu for ac stuff.
During the extensions,

LOL don't mind this.
http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i4...c/DSC01214.jpg
My stereo harness after heat shrinking I decided to just cover the whole thing in Elec tape to make it more neat (Since there is so many wires back there)

starting to come together!
nice work. Are you going to do anything about it sitting crooked though?
Looks like it still needs the cross member to hold the other 2 engine mounts put in, that should straighten it up a little.
Also remove that black pipe on the right in the last pic and use a full sized either 2.5" or 3", that's a huge power loss right there.
wow nice job, i cant wait to see the finished product.
Was it out of an auto originally ?
no it was from a 5spd, my mirage on the other hand was a auto.
Just AMAZING!!! Epic thread , im looking forward to see you on MOD in Normal IL at september! Gratz on Ride!
Cant wait to see it finished!
^ Ill have to look into it i have the AWD trans still that came with it so it may have been swapped from auto to manual in japan before it was exported.
Anyways
Little more done.

http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i4...c/DSC01404.jpg
*hood was closed all the way in this pics fully latched and plenty of clearance i just now have to get used to the engine sitting crooked
what were you exactly rubbing on before you had to adjust the engine for the hood to close?
^ Upper Turbo Y Pipe
we originally raised the engine so it was level and this cause the hood to not close, the evo hood is really different from the mirage.
cant you fabricate piping for the intercooler so it doesnt sit on top of the engine cover? so atleast that way the motor is level. Wont you have oil pick up issues if the engine was crooked?
maybe run the piping like this
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...s/DSC01405.jpg
no not really its only off by about 2 degrees but yea i can make custom piping but im unemployed :P
ah. yeah that definitely makes it more difficult. lol
Well, you are doing phenomenal with the car and cant wait til you start her up.
