update got the clutch pedal and got the clutch master in with the resivior have to drill and tap a spot to mount that but its in doing all i can while i wait for the clutch. anybody know of a good clutch to use that dont cost freaking 300 bucks? im not paying that much for it and it just a stock g motor i was thinking bout an xtd stage 3 or something any body got any ideas
my fix to haveing to put those bolts back in under the dash welded 2 nuts to the back side so i can bolt it on form under the hood lol
http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/...psa51b5b55.jpg
i got a question when i bolted the clutch to the fly wheel is the clutch supose to be tight in there between the fly wheel and pressure plate or is it supose to be a little lose idk ive never delt with a clutch b4 ive always had automatics that ive worked on. on an updated note got the shifter mounted and the linkages ran welded me sum nuts to the part thats under the dash so i can bolt them in from under the hood now lol trying to not go through that again
Yes it is
ok so its supose to be tight thanks for the info
this manual stuff has me all kinds of confused on how it works lol i can drive one good never took one apart to work on it so its all a learning experience for me and down here in nc i aint got noone to help me im trying to do this whole swap on my own and i have to say it aint easy buy no means for anybody thats considering it get a freind to help u wont regret it lol
I know what you mean I made mine 5spd and that was my first 5spd i ever owned and actually drove hardest part was the damn cables but I did what you did except I didn't weld a nut I put a screw through the bay once it was all through I put the nut from the inside hand tight easy
yea i said i wont going trough that hell again trying to put them back in lol the one on the drivers side i went to drill out and the drill spun the bolt out when i hit it with the bit. hopefully gonna have this done by end of nxt week
Your going to love it once your done I did mine in one day then helped my bro do his v6 which was a pain in the ass that trans was heavy compared to the i4
yea i cant wait i love driving a manual car i have been figureing this out since i boutght the car 6 years ago. and when the auto tranny messed up i said well this is the perfect time to do it. and i was way suprised at how light the I4 manual is i no the I4 automatic is a beast 2 that thing weighs twice as much as the manual
well getting ready to do my swap 2day fixing to tear out my trans got the pedals and shifter in already gonna drop the trans and all that 2day anybody got any last min advice b4 i start
ok got the trans in not bolted up yet it got dark on me and i dnt got power at my shop yet lol gonna go there today and try to get it bolted up and get the pedals all buttoned up any body no the proper ttpe of trans oil to use in these im not sure and how much
Use pen they sell it at auto zone and 3qts I believe
I used Pennzoil SynchroMesh and havent had no issues, and for the price you cant go wrong.
ok ima go with penzoil there motor oils good i normally use valoline how often do i have to change this oil is it like the motor oil or is it like rearend oil ina straight axle? again im new to this whole manual stuff i can drive one just dnt no much bout maintenance and stuff
ok got an issue my car wont crank now got the swap done and now it will not start at all it turns over but wont crank and body got any ideas i did short the 9 and 10 wires on the black harness
Make sure all sensors are connected back I had that issue but it was the pins I had wrong
i didnt unhook the motor connectors or anything from the engine but corect me if im wrong but there aint but 2 plugs on the manual tranny aint there. the one in the back near the axles and the reverse sensor.what do i do with the harness on the clutch pedal just not hook it up? whitch pins are right like color wise and whitch plug? i was told the big balck plug that connects to the old park nutral switch. is that right the 2 biggest wires on there that u short out?
The one in the back is the speed sensor then you take the big plug there's 4 big wires two go to the reverse I hope your using the plug from the eclipse then the other two are for the car to think its in neutral and those go together now the switch on the clutch pedal don't worry about that you don't need it at all
This is how, check if you got the right pins shorted
http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z...connector1.jpg
ok so it is the big black plug then ill double check that when i get back to my shop
were exacally is the rev solenoid? is it the only other plug on the trans up front ?
Yes
ok im on my way back form the beach had to get away from the swap for a bit i was getting pretty aggervated with it lol but as soon as i get back ill check all that and get yall an update
ok so i feel pretty stupid didnt think to check my gas to see if i had enough in it to crank it. the gauge said it had a quarter of a tank but didnt take into consideration it was up on jack stands. lol i feel dumb. i shot sum startin fluid in it and it fired off gonna go today and put sum gas in it. i gotta question can u adjust these clutches if u can how. the reason i ask is i tried puttin it in gear and holding the clutch to see if the wheels would move when i cranked it and they still are moving. could this be cause theres no weight on the wheels or is something wrong?
If you have the clutch pedal to the floor the wheels shouldn't move,
How to adjust the clutch:

thanks for the info on this and i screwed up a little bit as i was pulling the carpet padding from behind the air box i pulled 2 wires apart from the harness anybody no were a red wire with black strip and a brown wire with a black strip with silver dots go it come through the main harness and connects to the pcm
im not getting any power to the fuel pump and its got a full tank of gas. put my test light to the main power on the pump and it has no power wondering if one of thesse wires goes to the pump
First check the fuel pump relay in the engine bay fuse/relay box, check if fuel pump works, swap it with the one thats for the a/t trans, if that doesn't work then one of those wires is the cause, what year is your G your gonna need a pinout to locate where those wires go.
its a 2000 model 4cyl were can i get a pin out and whitch ones for the fuel pump its nto really labled in the fuse box
Its a relay its located in the "L" shaped fuse box on the engine bay look at the inside lid of that fuse box for specific location, I don't have a pinout t the moment
ok ill keep searching for the pinout im afraid ima have to remove the dash to get to were it broke at looks like i cant catch a break with this try to do a simple swap and end up with a huge headache
well looks like im gonna have to remove the dash and airbox so i can get to were the wires broke and fix them looks like im in for some fun
You just need to take out the lower dash part and the ac blower.
If you can understand this then it will help you:
This is a Galant to Evo pin out(credit goes to underated), the pin numbers for the galant are at the right side of the chart, on the chart you can see whats that pin for, on the left side of the chart you can see the pin locations, look at the one that says <A/T> this image is as if you were looking at the ecu connectors from the car/wires side Hope it helps Fuel Pump Relay is Pin #21

yes this helps im going to work on it today and ill let yall no hopefully if i fix it
this is what u get when u try to rush to get stuff done and rip the carpet out from under the dash with some pliers u have to rip the dash out and airbox just to repair them lol
