Picking up a 6G74 w/ needed parts for a swap tomorrow. Dropping in the new motor Monday/Tuesday. Happy early Christmas to me :D
^nice, jealous, are you 5 speed yet? It would be a good time to put in the poly mount inserts in.
Just bought the Vibrant 4.5" MAF adapter and some NGK spark plugs.
Not 5 speed yet. And I'll be getting new mounts when I can. I know I should do it when I do the swap but I don't have the funds and need my car running to land this new job starting next year. Gonna get mounts when I can.
In other news, got the old engine out and the new engine in her tonight. Hooking up everything first thing tomorrow.
The little half-circle white thing fell out of the eclipse probably 11 months ago and I finally replaced it today, hehe, it keeps the shifter from have left to right play. I also installed SpeedSource shifter bearings in the eclipse. Part number for the white thing is in the pic, I ordered 3 of them just incase.

Should be finishing up tomorrow :o

Oh sweet I've been wondering about that thing. Black8gv6 does it just pop in?
^
somewhat easy, I had to remove the battery tray, then just loosen the two bolts, I didn't pull them out, just enough where the bottom arm was moveable. There is a nipple on the arm that the white half circle sits on, so I don't know how it fell out. It took awhile being gentle but once you put the white thing on the nipple just guide it back in place, then tighten the bolts.

Got the 6G74 fired to tonight. Finishing up a few minor details, but she's done. Just need to do 10 minutes worth of work and that's it.
Wellll that turned out to be a little more than 10 minutes worth of work lol.
Had to get multiple belts because of sizing issues, then the power steering belt went out. Replaced that, the battery was dead. Replaced THAT too (with a Diamante battery), and had to replace the starter as well (also upgraded to the Diamante starter). Although the week has been very long, all the blood sweat and tears were worth it. The 6G74 is running!
Finally drove her home a hour away from my friends today, checked everything and there are no leaks or anything. Loving the hell out of this swap. It feels a lot smoother (the engine) to me.

Nice, are you using the 72 or 74 throttle body? Are you going to get a cold air intake or short ram air intake? It'll make that engine sound good.
I'm using the 74 throttle body. And I need to do a few other repairs before I get one, but I do plan on getting a cold air intake. The engine sounds amazing. I would take a vid but I don't have a camera lol
Congrats on the swap
Congrats! Good to see you got her up and running. What are you doing for engine management, you getting her tuned?
Thanks guys. I used the 72 injectors. No need for a tune, but that is definitely on the list of things to do.
Been gone awhile since for some reason I can only access the site thru the app on my phone off Wi-Fi. Seems that my IP address has been blocked or something buy anyways I'm starting to collect turbo parts.

Basically a Holset HX40W with a 20psi wastegate. Ordered a 10psi wastegate along with a T4/T3 cast iron manifold and a wastegate block off plate. Also have wrx 560cc injectors I bought from Galantman03.

Now it's almost 6am and I have a long day ahead of me. Time to get some sleep.

So I've tried to do some searching and didn't come up with anything.
After the 6G74 swap I needed a few parts and went ahead and upgraded to the Diamante parts (battery and starter). Now that I need motor mounts, that got me thinking. Could we use the mounts or axles from the Diamante over on the Galant? I'm pretty sure (just a guesstimation though) we can use the same mounts since the engine fits right in, but I could be wrong of course. I'm really not sure about the axles though.
Most likely they will be the same part numbers. For example the battery looks like a group 86 which the galants take them already.

Got my exhaust manifold chrome ceramic coated and installed it, turbo blanket is on, installed a catch can and mounted my mbc, still need to run the lines for the mbc so don't worry about the wastegate not connected to a boost source.

^^Nice COP setup!
looks nice man!
Yeah that COP does look top notch Omega and so does the valve cover spdracr
Old coilovers were rusted and seized. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/01/05/e5y4utab.jpg
Took them apart, took me 3 hours with pb blaster, chisel, hammer and a torch. The lock rings got chewed up but they're still functional. Stripped all the springs and front sleeves and coated them. And used a wire wheel on a bench grinder to get all the baked rust off the threads. Used plenty of anti seize.

Anti-seize is man's best friend lol!
you got that right, greg! took the words right out of my mouth.
My babies
Put new spark plugs in the Galant, I have the infamous p0300, I think mine is my 02 sensors still, will order new ones, I only have 2 bungs with my exhaust so I spliced the left bank together and the right bank together, this time I'm going to try to splice both uppers together and bother lowers together, I'll see if that helps.
I also undid the wire loom and tucked the MDP wires since the 6g74 IM makes the stock wires stretch across the 74 IM.

Hey Spdrcr....I also have megans coilovers and will be installing them within this month....I plan to go as low as I can go to eliminate the wheel gap I dont want them to tuck does any one know the camber plate should be centered?
Is that the cat warm-up code? I forgot the number but i think thats the code I had. I still have a light on now but just been riding with it. I'll have to get it scanned again at somepoint and figure a solution. Same shop told me recently, seems like my headgasket is tryna give out on me, but to let it go for the moment. Was leaking a small amount of oil, and they also said coolant. But all I ever see in the driveway is oil, but none lately for the past 3 days
P0300 could be 1 of several things, I got my 2 new 02 sensors today, I work until sunday night so monday I'll extend and put in the 02 sensors and hopefully the P0300 code goes away, I'll let you know if it fixes it.
P0300 is a random misfire which in his case is probably caused by a rich condition.

My p0300 was caused by a coil and bad ground straps.
There really isn't one definite fix for it. It's such a vague code that has lots of different ways to fix it.

Got a LED package from my cousin for xmas. I installed them on Monday but I only got to post the pics today. No pics of how bright the entire cabin is. Its really bright. The thing I love about these LEDs is that some of them are adjustable.
