x3m, how much extra would it be for a custom bumper support? What would be the problems with just eliminating it as Mindless said? For those of us planning on going turbo or already have a front mount, that bumper support needs to be chopped up anyway. Would not having the bumper support affect the structure and stability of the bumper?

No, but you better not hit anyone because it's all radiator and engine up front without the structural bumper.

Thanks Mindless. So, could a steel rod or square steel tubing of some sort be welded or bolted in it's place?

mic said he will make a custom bumper support for those who want it, but you can do the ghetto rig of the streel or metal bar to support incase you hit someone and dont want to kill everything.
-
is the support that mic will make extra money? or will it come with the kit?

count me in... i'm tired of my shogun style kit. i'm still into EVO style kit.

i'm looking at these pics, and i'm not too sure of what it is your doing. but let me see if i can figure it out.
When i took my front bumper off to put in my JDM lights, i took the whole thing off. and accidentally took the bumper support off too. In these pics it looks like you cut the front part off and still have the part of the bumper that is still conected to the frame on the car.
if you took that part off, would you then have the room you were needing?
I can tell the bumper is still on by the hump in the middle where the grill would be. i know that when i took my bumper off it was all one piece. Another thing is that big yellow fiberglass piece or "bumper support" comes off as well, if you got rid of that would you then be able to make it closer?
Somehow the JDM bumper does not stick out as much, you might ask Maz or brandon who have the JDM bumper installed. Maybe the bumper support is a usdm conversion specification. i also know that the support houses the front mount turn signal, which is not needed on jdm conversion
Also, ako, is from New Zealand, he knows a lot about modifying his front bumper, which is also JdM.
i also know that the us requires a 35 mph crash tested bumper, which may not be a requirement for the rest of the world, you know Washington has to make things difficult.
To me it looks like you are modifying the way the bumper is currently set up. You created the front facia to the 240, then mold it on the old bumper connection. in this case the bumper will stick out
with the way you have the bumper cut off,you should be able to remove the support, four bolts, 2 on bottom, currently exposed, and 2 on top, behind the old bumper directly above the two lower bolts.
But having the bumper stick out isn't necessarilly a bad thing. If we go ahead and leave the bumper to where it stick out, that might give us more room for a FMIC later. I know eventually, i'm going to go 4G63t, and i want the fmic, but i'm thinking this kit might not be suitable for that it the bumper ends up too close. I know ako has a "big mouth" look to his car cause he had to cut out of his JDM bumper to fit his FMIC. Sorry maz, but it's true, if you ever go fmic, you'll have to loose that pretty bumper.
But then i could be totally, off on everything i just said
here's a pick of MAZ's JDM bumper and i think it's what other people mean by not sticking out, personally, i like it either way. I would maybe like the side vents on the 240 to be a little bigger...

no, you sound like you got it. i really dont want the entire thing removed, but a little cut off is OK. as long as there is something substantial there, then it's ok, and no cop in hell is going to tell if it's there or not, so it doesn't matter. if everyone is OK with it sticking out, let it stick out, and leave the bumper support bar there so everyone doesn't have to fuck with it later. if people really want that flush look, then cut away, just leave something there :!:
oh man, my car looks like it needs some love  still in good hands though, good work mic.

Jus talked to Ako, he said he didn't have anything like the bumper support on his car.
he also said he only "hacked" his bumper causehe "wanted to show off more of his FMIC" https://www.thegalantcenter.org/styl...ault/laugh.gif  8)

I dont need a bumper support. Thats where my FMIC is sitting 8)
