That is what I love about Kansas, no emissions testing and I can run around on open headers without worry. Pretty handy to be able to drive the Volvo to the exhaust shop instead of towing it to get my 3" downpipe back made.
I used the eBay precut tint kit. Paid like $27 bucks. The kit is ok. I honestly gonna get it professionally done. I wanted tint and didn't wanna spend the big bucks and it served its purpose.

Time for a manual swap! LOL. The auto tranny did well and now you all can gauge its limits.
Started feeling vibration and odd noises transmission side this evening. So no boost till after the swap and it should last till then. All i need is the transaxle/mount/clutch master to slave line/clutch and flywheel.
Well I guess that's good news. I was thinking of doing the same since the motor will be out of the car already.

I will vote nay on precuts. I hate air bubbles (not cuz pre cuts but cuz i aint no pro at tinting so they'll show) and spots that don't get covered.
As for tickets in cali CHP is the most strict. My way around it is, I have to front windows with no tint that I swap in to get the ticket signed off, then swap the windows back. Takes me 10 minutes and the fix it is only 25 bucks compared to 50 dollar retint every time.

No! I say swap in another auto lol

It was only a matter of time before the auto got thrashed by the powahh!
efffff the auto lmao. It cant hang with the tq!
Hell yeah man. Do it!

Cool, sounds like the 4 banger auto is tougher then the V6, mine blew up from spirited driving with a stock V6, the auto's just don't hold up.
yep thats for sure because ive heard multiple stories of the v6 autotragic blowin up under normal driving conditions lol!
Yeah have a GTZ came to the shop over a year ago on a tow truck with the trans not shifting, pull a code for a TC and output VSS. The I4 is different, can hold about 350lb/ft with an 7" oil cooler and a slightly higher line pressure.
Lol I'm making roughly 350 wtq corrected. Definitely the limit.

My second box blew up in under 10k miles, it was pretty pathetic.
For some reason I have a habit of blowing up automatics, ironically the only one that has lasted is the one in my Dodge truck. I'm still trying to figure out that one....
I have a spare clutch line. Full from the master to slave. I'll sell it to u if u want.
I don't have any bubbles in my windows. The back was a pita to shrink to the window. I did mess up the corner but not too bad. It takes lots of time if u take your time with it. But I will never do it again.

Just buy yourself a 3an ss line and some fittings and call it a day. That's what I did. Looks so much better.

Think everyone is right about the v6 autos..been in that boat myself, not long after I bought my car. Got it rebuilt, well over 50k since and still good. But iirc v6 auto hondas/acuras seemed to be cursed too..at least like early 2000 and older models
I just thought its because an automatic is a faulted technology and the very principals of its operation lead to its demise.
Seriously though, they are annoying to drive, annoying to rebuild and they put up with very little abuse unless built to handle it. Outside of truck transmissions I've found very little use for them.
What about the 2g gsx auto transmissions?? Dsm guys seem to swap to auto from manual. Are they strong or what?? Always wondered about those!

I don't think the motor mounts line up on an 8g (if your talking about 98/99 4g64)
They do that because autos are consistent on the dragstrip. I cant remember for the life of me who builds the DSM autos but they can be built to be able to handle some power. IMO though, manual is still better. I guess if youre hardcore about chasing times then auto is for you, but there is NOTHING and I repeat NOTHING like almost putting your foot through the floor slamming gears going down the track.
Mother Effer.....so a while back I had the turbo oil feed line rip during winter and spewed oil all over the bay while i was driving and oil light came on once at idle as soon as i pulled in the driveway. I cleaned her all up and put a nice vibrant line on. Peeped the bearings and everything looked dandy. Yeah well that sound I was hearing wasnt the tranny. Definitely the motor. Bearings must have had microscopic damage and only lasted as long as it did because of the tune. Car still runs and boosts fine (havent gone over 5 psi cause that would be stupid) but I heard a change in my exhaust note. Nobody else can hear it but i know my car. Parked it after coming home from work and started inspecting and YEP I hear the knock at 2500 ish rpm.
My wife was like oh boy and waiting for me to be upset but I just said ah well time to get another motor and parked Tumbler on the side LOL. She then asked what unicorn bit me in the ass to make me so chill about a car going down. LMFAO. Its a faulty line that broke. That stuff happens. This is why I have yet to build a freak block on any car cause a faulty oil line can take it out. Totally not your fault. $200 and I have a new motor. New headstuds and new headgasket ($80)and im good to go again.
I have to do the same thing. Had oil delivery issues in mine. Getting it to the house this weekend and then hardcore motor searching. Doubt I'll get one for $200 though.

Oh shit! I wasn't expecting that. Like you said though, $200 and you're running the show again =) Not many of us can keep the glass half full through the thick of everything lol.
Hondas really. The early 8G trans had an external filter you can change, the rest have an internal filter that is bury inside the case and only serviceable if the tranny is being rebuilt. You can still add an inline filter to it though.
I did a write up about maintaining the auto on another site.
Damn that sucks, still for 200 its cheaper then rebuilding a built short block. The center section of your turbo should be cleaned and inspected if you had metal shaving floating around the oil. I hope you get up and running soon!
Yep first motor swap I had a spun bearing from the garbage block so I'm used to the procedure. Flushing the turbo, having the pan cleaned etc.

Thank you silver 2002 Galant. Your donation to the Bruce Wayne foundation will forever make Gotham a safer place. LOL

I made sure this block was predrilled for the axle mod. Thanks xd_01 ^_^

Get to it! Lol where's Robin...
Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk
Haha! I'd totally make Robin do it. Have to order new head gasket, headstuds, water pump and pulley kit. In the meanwhile I'll get it on the stand and clean it up while I wait. Still gotta pull the current motor. Don't really feel like it now since I just pulled the new one haha.
Sent from my HTC6500LVW using Tapatalk
5 speed? Might as well... I thought you already the old block out...
Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk
I envy you. Can't wait to get my car started
Sent from my Z796C using Tapatalk
Have you considered replacing the bearings and rings while you have it apart? I did the bearings on my motor when I turboed the car and its cheap insurance.
At the yard there was a dover white pearl eclipse rs with everything in tact. omfg ive never been so tempted. Nah didnt pull the block out yet. Didnt want to leave my evo outside lol.
Hah your time will come! It feels like its taking forever to me financially.
Yeah I have thought about it since the last block, but then its not stock block anymore. Plus at that point why not do rods and pistons? then next thing im boring the block, then I'm doing a built tranny to handle the stress......etc. Keeping it simple.
Yeah, that's my issue right now too. Short on money. But my girl friend is working now so soon I should have some money to throw at it.
