Those Evo wheels look great on it!
Car looking clean as always. By the way, have you considering that it could be your ecu? My dad used to have this sort of issues with his galant 92 suppersalon when he was young. he said the ecu was messed up and gave the tranny bad signal for shifting times. Take it to a transmission specialist or a good electric unless you want to do a 5speed swap better ;)
Soooo... My wife got rear ended today by a taxi cab while she was stopped and waiting to turn SMH. Im thankful she's ok, but now I have to wait for insurance company to estimate the damages.

wow bro.. that shit sucks seriously! glad your wife is ok but sucks to see your car like this.. Good thing it wasnt worse
Seriously bro!
Fuck that cabbie. That company better pay for the jdm shit and not just usdm shit from ebay or a yard.

That's what scares me.. I've always wanted to know what they would pay for. I'm assuming jdm since that what you have on. It's only logical but then again you never know
Damn worry to hear about the car but glad your wife is good hope your able to get her fixed fast
They should pay for what you have on. Much like If it was a MBZ with AMG kit, it needs to go back to how it was.
And if they want to get technical go get mitsu prices from a dealer, 150 for a tail light. 450 on a bumper cover that is oem and not ebay aftermarket, then when your payday comes hit up trigg.

Question is if they "total" it, what are my rights in keeping my car?
I'd hate to see that happen. Then it would be scarred with a salvage title.

Damn Will, sorry to see this. I'm happy your wife is safe. That's what's important.
A salvage title pretty much throws your resale value (which is already crappy for our cars) into the Pacific. So it's really how you feel that determines what you do once you have all the information. If you want to keep it, if it can get fixed for cheap, a salvage title ain't that bad. But that's if you want to keep it for yourself. If you were looking to get something else, or were considering selling it, or don't want to deal with any headaches if it does get totaled, then do like I did with mine and cut your losses. This is all if it gets totaled. Keep in mind the insurance estimate is gonna be somewhat higher than what a shop might work out for you (at least in my experience, my body shop can usually do the work for cheaper than what the insurance estimates, that's how they make money, but they can pass some savings on to you) so you might still make out buying it back and getting it fixed. I hope this all helps, good luck homie!
^Thx Greg!
Im still trying to figure out though, like in some instances if an insurance company deems your car "totaled", some will pay you out and take the car. Others will pay you out and let you do as you like with the car. I would rather get payed it for the car, and be able to keep it to strip the parts and sell them or put them on another G...
Ouch. That looks bad - close, but not totalled. Glad everyone is ok.
I'm with Geico, I had no backlash from them when I gave the bodyshop my old G with no taillights and no radio. That's partly why I use my own bodyshop, I have no idea what Geico's bodyshop would let me take off the car. But they should let you get what you need, just do it when you're cleaning out the car. I remember Cleazy had to replace whatever parts he took off his car, so he brought stock parts with him to swap out so he could keep his aftermarket stuff. If not, he would have been required to leave his wheels, his Brembos, his drop springs, his interior mods all on that wrecked car. Since your car is still rolling, I'd take all your goodies off now and replace them with stock parts just in case they get strict, which I have seen happen.
Now, if you want to get the car back and strip it completely down like Keith did his first G (he stripped it to the damn frame!), then you'll have to buy it back from the insurance company for whatever the salvage price is (a few hundred dollars). That's what I was saying in my last post, they'll pay out for the car minus whatever the salvage price is and the car is yours but with a salvage title. You'll then have to repair it and get it salvage inspected (in MD you do anyway) within 30 days in order to drive it, or you can strip it down for whatever parts you want off it and then scrap it yourself.
