Fix yer shit so we can cruise this summer!
working on it fasty, and I will check summit out! What was the size you bought for your car?
PRM-182 I am fairly certain... It's the 2.5", none of that thermostat bullshit. Just make sure you get it with an M20 adapter unless you already have one. Mine came with an M18 so I reused the one from my prosport sandwich that I had almost three years ago.
Thats what i needed is the m20 or was it m22 haha ill order one on friday and maybe start the car next week
M20
Bought a oil filter sandwich from summit racing but it seems to large for my ofh, decided to use the eBay one but the adapter was larger the the hole. Here was my fix.

More cursed actions from the galant, got my oiling system all setup, so I started swaping out the rod bolts. Not an easy task so say the least, put them in the freezer over night to make them shrink tap the old ones out, the drop a new one in line it up and use the nut to pull it through. Get through that and start putting the acl's in, looks like they sent me undersized bearing instead of oversized so there is way to much clearance. Set back but going to get my wiring all fixed up in the meantime while I wait for the new set.

So there is no direct fit sandwich available? Looks like you have gone through a few and went to great extremes to fit. I need one but don't want to go through all that.
Just couldn't get them to send me the right thread so in found one and modified the other one. Actually It only took me about 9 mins to make that hole bigger and that was waiting for my machine to boot up. Just did it on my lunch Friday.

Why use a samich in first place?
Because our ofh drops oil off when under load it diverts to the filter this way I keep ample power. Look at the design of the thing it's not meant for a turbo

ISK Mitch, I've never seen any drops of pressure on my gauge when under load.
What gasket are you using? There are a couple different styles. One blocks two holes (that's the one i have) and the other has no holes blocked. This was my main issue and having the sandwich eliminates this from happening. I will know more once my new bearings come in tomorrow and i get to try out the new setup. Hoping for the best and that I don't have to rip this engine out again to see what was making the noise I had after the turbo blew up.
Welp new bearings came in today, plastigage says my clearance is. 0035" so I threw the oil pan back on got my o2 housing and exhaust put back up, oil drain for the turbo is back on. Just need to check my timing once again, adjust my balance shaft timing cause it's off 180°. Button it back up and start it we will see what happens!

Finally! :)
still surprised you never deleted the balance shafts. Good luck with it
i was just talking about this tonight with a friend and they might be coming out. Something is up with my oil pump its making some noise so im going to probably have to replace it and that means ill most likely do the delete at the same time. I'm wondering if some of the turbo pieces that i found in the oil got in there and messed it up or what, but that is going to come out and im going to do a water pump while im at it because for some reason i didnt do the water pump when i had the engine out and now its seeping out of the weep hole.
Well if my bike ever sells I can take this off of being on hold from being laid off.
Tired of looking at this stupid thing just sitting around
going to do the balance shaft delete for sure now and probably a new oil pump
Or part most of it out and go to an evo i have yet to decide ha
Oh if you go evo you will still miss the galant I bet. It will be like that lurking thing that you never got to finish!
I vote part it out. Or simplify it enough that you'll actually get something out of it. Because if it blows up again you'll really be kicking yourself.
im still on the fence I want to try to make it run again but if it doesnt work this time im going to be parting it out, keeping my fuel and turbo setup to build an evo next.
Thats a good plan. I'm sure you already have weighed the pros and the cons. I wont lie my evo does make me grin ear to ear but so does the galant. Its all really about where you are aiming get out of a car. There are somethings my galant will never be able to do that the evo does without breaking a sweat.
Have some fun and go NA! lol
Well, after about a year of not touching this stupid car, I finally took the time to look into the issue with the "knocking" that I was having. Basically what sucks is after my parents divorce I had to move into an apartment the galant is here but in the underground parking where we are not supposed to "work" on cars. So after a quick chat with the maintenance guy, he asked if the car was able to drive because after the winter they make everyone empty out the garage so they can pressure wash the floors, well he basically told me to get what ever needs to be done to the car done now before they have the floors cleaned.
So after some research of the "knocking" issues that I was having that I have been confused about since the day it started, I came up the the conclusion that my flywheel had maybe loosed up. So today I went to town and ripped the transmission out of my car, get the clutch off and YUP all my flywheel bolts were finger tight. So either they backed out or I literally forgot to tighten them. Either way that sucked it scared me but, on the positive side there is no catastrophic damage to my engine witch is a huge plus.
The transmission is back in, I just need to put the suspension back on, plus a few other small things, and the car should be able to drive again, for how long? IDK yet but I'm hopeful the thing is back on track. I'll update this again when I attempt to start it again for the first time in two years :)
Lol the biannual update! That's good that it's not a serious issue.
^^lol I want to see this thing running
This thing will be so beast!

good to hear some really good news
Well got it all back together today, needs a new battery and some other things idk how well its going to run on 4 year old gas haha but we will find out this week.
AWESOME! Needs a viiiideo. C:
Well, car is 90% back together, I just have some small things to do to it like hook up the exhaust and change the plugs also want to drain the fuel tank and put fresh non 3 year old gas in. But I did "pop" it over yesterday, didn't let it run though I want to put fresh oil in it, but the good news for the week is there is no more knocking noises coming from the car and she fires right up :) ! So hopefully if things go to plan I could have her back out in may/june if it does not break again between now and then. Ill post a video of it running within a week or so once i get the exhaust all hooked back up.
Bad a man! Looking forward to updates

3yr old gas running rich
Bad A! Glad to see you got her up and running.
Why is she smoking at the end? Oil/grease on the block/exhaust?
Aww snap!

That's awesome! Congrats:rockon:
Woot woot! Time for a new photo sesh! :icon_cool:
Need to finish it this coming weekend since I have to move it out of the garage so they can pressure wash the floors.

It was smoking because since the downpipe actually sits against my oil filter I didn't bolt it up. The exhaust was coming straight from the o2 housing. I think I'm going to need a relocation kit for my oil filter or just pray that heat wrapping it is ok
