Off Topic, But holy shit look at that Aveo in the background in post 1....
Just read the whole thread, congrats on getting it started, that means you're almost home! In for updates!
Just trimmed a little here

and intercooler fits nicely.

Installed maft gen2.
http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/...20GS-X/021.jpg
Wiring maft in was pretty quick and easy only took an hour or so. Configuring it will be a bit more of head scratcher. I wonder if i can set just the gm maf info and then leave the rest alone for the time being?
Bumper reinforcement mounted after a little cutting and grinding. Tried to get the driveshaft lengthened and unfortunately they said they couldn't do it. Not sure what to do now??

Just ship the section you need lengthened to a shop that will do it. The shop I went to was just a local driveshaft shop, nothing special.
I didn't want to ship out because: 1. Murphys law 2. my impatience 3. shipping companies treat Alaska as another country, freight is expensive.
My machine shop friend got it done though, here are the ends of middle section after the tube was removed.

Bought a new section of tube from the shop that said they couldn't lengthen it

Here it is mounted in place. The center section lengthened 4.9 inches which is the difference between the 2g and 7g wheelbase.

Does the i/c piping fits without problem or is it custom?
Not sure what you mean by custom, I believe each install is slightly different than the next guys as there are so many intercooler and turbo options. I was determined to run the upper as close as possible through the factory hole in the rad. support. It took a lot of patience/time fitting and refitting, ended up using a expo radiator and offset it a few inches toward the drivers side to clear upper intercooler piping.
Was asking because that i/c comes as a kit for 2g dsm's and wanted to know if you used that piping or if you made your own
Gotcha! I got the kit slightly used for about 1/2 price so not sure what it came with new and I doubt he gave me every piece. Didn't need to buy anything additional for the upper except a clamp or two, the lower parts purchased were a straight 2' of pipe cut to proper length reducer coupling and u coupling because still using stock 2g turbo.
Looks good, pretty nice watching this 7g come along.
Finished wiring up the budget tranny shifter and took it for it's first drive today.

Thats awesome man. I like the stance. Its coming out very nicely.
Do you have any exhaust on the car?
Nothing special for exhaust just stock gsx front section and then a few feet of straight tube. Surprisingly not too loud but eventually will go 2.5 or 3" all the way.
Very cool, Congratgs, the auto gsx trans can be pretty strong from what I've seen on tuners. Looks Like your going to have some fun with that in the snow :)
Happen to have any pics of the engine bay? Just wanted to see the piping :) congrats on getting it running
Ordering an exhaust kit, considering going with 3" downpipe and 2.5 the rest of the way or maybe I should just go with 2.5 for all of it. opinions? It is just a t25 for now but eventually will put the holset hc1 off my cummins in place.

I've seriously been considering downsizing to 2.5" just for noise issues. I just put a Magnaflow 3" in/out muffler on the car and it is still loud enough on the highway that I have to turn the stereo up to hear it well and then back down at stop lights so I'm not getting blasted. That is with two resonators inline before the muffler. Of course some of that is also just road noise from my wide tires and suspension mods but still...
Also, don't go big to small on exhaust pipe or you'll hurt your exhaust flow (fluids stuff I don't want to go into this morning but trust me, I'm an engineer). Better to stay uniform or go bigger as you go back.
Also, I've been waiting to use that trust me line, so thanks for the chance ;)
