only when you have an aftermarket flywheel.
Also, the 3G manual bolts are the same as the flexplate bolts. Use 2G bolts.

So if I'm using a stock 3 g flywheel I can stick with the stock bolts right? And also jigzi remember you saying there were two washers you could get from the dealer fr 5$ what were those for?
The washers are there to keep the bolts from digging into the flywheel and destroying it but we dont have enough HP to actually get the flywheel and bolts hot enough to do that. Atleast thats how I understand it.
Also, when buying a 3G flywheel, make sure it's an OEM flywheel. Remanufactured and aftermarket flywheels will need the 2G bolts. As soon as this clutch goes out I'm going to a lightened 2G flywheel cuz this fucker is heavy...
Anyone have a 2001-2003 who has done the swap? If so what did you do about the ECU? When you had it flashed @ the Dealer, what were the steps after that?
Well last night i finally finished the swap on my 8G. Havent test drove it fully yet but like my 7G swap................i have no complaints. I still have a spare 3G tranny for sale if anyone is interested $500 bux and its yours
is it just me or are the pics not showing up?
Ok I been read now I have all 5 speed parts from a 2000 eclipse donor car I have a 2001 galant 2.4
And want to no do I need the axle from donor and what to do about my ecu
And if anyone in the new york hudson valley area has done this yet and would like to help out
If ur a 2.4 you don't have to worry bout the axles.
No, because your car is a I4............
Doses anyone know a fix for the CEL on the 03 yet?
Swap a 99-00 ECU and harness? lol.
On a serious note, SPD_FRK might be onto something with the CEL issues.
If you have an 01+ (and some 00 ECUS depending on processor inside), you can flash the ECU with a Tactrix cable and ECUFlash and simply disable the immobilizer on our ECUs rather than buying another one that has already been disabled. THose of you with 00 Gs may be able to flash the ECU like I said depending on the processor it has, but for those of you wanting to upgrade to the flashable ECU I would suggest an 01+
Check my build thread, more ECU swap discussion here

You do not use them, and you know there is this magical thing called a "SPACE BAR".
Ok dose that 2g starter half to be mt or can it be at
It shouldn't matter but I would use one from a manual to be safe.
does anybody know what the transmission code is? i'm looking for a rebuild kit, ups broke the mount closest to the fire wall on the bell housing, and since i have to take the whole thing apart and replace that, i might as well rebuild the dang thing, i just can't find a rebuld kit for it lol...
F5M42 is the 4 cylinder F5M41 is the 6 cylinder tranny.
thanks man edit... thats for the manaul correct? lol
Yes sir.
awesome... gotta quick question, for those of you that have install a lsd, how much was just the install price? i'm trying to get some idea on how much it would be to replace the bell housing....
i was charges 200 for the lsd install and rebuild. including the gears... i know the guy though so you may be looking at a little more but roughly somehwere in the 2 -3oo ballpark
really? wow why am i being priced like 600 for just parts alone then.... hmmm i'll have to check around... thank fatal1
Yeah, the V6 is F5M51..
My bad screwed up the numbers. I was reading up the fsm earlier before he asked.
bout to start the swap this coming monday but i got a couple of last minute questions if anybodys knows...the rebuilt tranny i bought came with no hardware..will the automatic hardware work or am i gonna be makin another trip to the dealer..and also do i need to buy both tranny mounts? or can i use any parts from the automatic?
OK I'll break it down since I had this issue.
The hardware for the shifter cable bracket on the trans is the same as the ones on the auto, The bellhousing bolts are also the same as well as the bolts that hold the roller mount brackets to the trans.
Man that is very obvious stuff, there are numerous threads about this, as well as THIS THREAD, that contain all that info.
thanks alot man i appreciate it, and white galant thanks for that buddy...
g-ride..you will need the manual tranny mount it is different then the auto
Fatal1 do you mean this tranny mount adapter? MD771071, its the one closest to the firewall...
