seriously man it won't be that bad...
at this point all the rusty suspension parts you had to battle have been broke loose.
so that hassle goes away,
second,
you know exactly what you are doing and have physically done everythign you need to do to get where you want to go
^if that makes sense lol.
either way,
you shoudl be able to get that tranny off in a matter of hours.
key things,
you don't have to drain the clutch line,
just unbolt the slave from the bellhousing and sit it off somewhere out of the way.
other than that just yank those axles out and do your business. be careful not to seperate the c/v joints when you are taking the axles out.
as soon as you get inside the bellhousing the problem shoudl be evident.
look for signs of interference.
ya, take your time and go easy.
Ok today I found out that the sound stops after a little bit and then comes back when you press in the clutch. Now I know exactly where it coming from
Hmm shouldnt be a TOB, usually a TOB noise will go away with the pedal pressed in. Sounds like a clutch issue. Make sure all your trans bolts are tight and the trans is sitting flush with the block.
Pulling the trans is cake after the first time. I can get mine out in about 2 hrs with nobody else helping.
With the car running and the clutch pressed in, can you put it in any of the gears?
Seth, no matter what its gotta be somewhere along the clutch,PP, or flywheel. He needs to pull that bitch out and go over it again.
Gravy, did you follow the TUT to the Tee or did you take a few shortcuts?
So whats the scoop man?
been a while and no updates.
lets see where you are at :approve:
as far as your problem, did you ever get the pilot bearing removed? or did you just out the flywheel in over the pilot bearing after you tried to cut it out.
And my question is wheree can i get a pilot bearing removal tool, cause i've tried all kinds of shit and it aint working.
funny, mine slipped right out using vise grips and PB.
no offense but...Quote:

ya i got more mounts........
Did you heat up the area around the bearing with a torch? Heating that area up(at least direct flame on that area or near it but further away from the bearing) it should expand and be easier to pull out.
I would try using a torch in conjunctino with the tool.

here is a thought about the problem of the rattle coming from the bell housing.
did you attach the backing plate before you put the flywheel on. In peano's tutorial he doesn't mention cutting the backing plate till after he has shown the clutch and flywhl installed. But there are two 8mm bolts that hold the backing plate in place, behind the flywheel just above the crank. If you forgot the two inner bolts you might be hearing the backing plate hitting your flywheel.
True, i never even thought of that. Well did you cut and install the backing plate the way it shows in the Tut?
me or gravy?Quote:

kool.
hmmm.....i didn't cut mine...i just went to the yard and stole one from a 5spd galant.....then i compaired them, they seem identical.....but my starter sounds like it's sneezing every time i start the car....no biggy though since i just changed my starter yesterday and no damage anywhere (starter and flywheel)....weird....
so does it run now or not yet?
Update us man!
Da, does it sound like its sneezing as soon as you turn the key or when you let go of the key? Either way its not engaging the flywheel wrong. Does it still do it with the new starter?
i'm tryin to jack thread....Quote:
