yeah i only have my current car as a DD, but if you know how to weld a DP, i'm free on the weekends

i cant weld but i can do other stuff haha
ok, lil update:
I just got the EVO ECU on saturday afternoon from a member of evom.net (big thanks to him on the fast shipping, and to GOOSEY2099 for letting me know about the sale
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u...0530091427.jpg according to GOOSEY2099...
"Now you need a boost solenoid, new style jdm foglight clip (not sure why on that one), fuel pressure solenoid, dsm injector clip (not sure about that one either since i'm using wrx injectors) "
pretty soon i'll get the wiring for the ecu as well as the final gaskets for the hardware components. gotta talk to GOOSEY2099 and johnathansgalant about whether to do only the EVO ECU or to do the dual ECU swap.
more details to follow soon
u might have to go Dual ECU for now since ur Automatic, but once u go 5spd u can do single ECU
the reason for those clips is... boost solinoid connector is exactly like my jdm fog connctors were. and the fp solinoid is just like a fuel injector clip.
and my assumption is this will eliminate the codes that goes to those wires, nice :thumb:
hopefully i have no CEL codes after the install, will go to inspection prior to the turbo install. (at least that way, i have another two years to finish the remaining CEL codes)
so i figure go back to evom.net and find someone selling these, unless you have any extra lying around the garage somewhere ;)
i forgot where i got this document from....
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u...0603090956.jpg
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u...603090956a.jpg
hard to read, i know :icon_sad: it's an excel sheet showing the EVO and Galant ECU pinouts side by side. maybe i got it from underrated or johnathansgalant...either way i'll ask them about it to see if i can use this as reference when i do the swap.
so i've been looking at a few sites to get the remaining items for Galant/EVO Dual ECU swap. all i need is a turbo wastegate solenoid (and a mathcing new style JDM foglight clip) and a fuel pressure solenoid (and a matching dsm injector clip) and an extension harness so i don't mock up the current stock harness for the Galant ECU.
both clips would be from an evo right?
Conversion Harness: maybe around $300+
(Boomslang) i emailed Boomslang about a custom "conversion harness" (thanks for lettin me know johnathansgalant :D )
Boost Solenoid:
(AEM) $101.00
http://www.aempower.com/ViewProduct.aspx?ProductID=23
(eBay) $54.99 shipped

(looks very similar to the AEM solenoid :icon_confused: )
(eBay) $59.95 shipped
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWAX%3AIT
still looking for the right fuel pressure solenoids to find as well, will post up links when i find them.
i still have to get the remaining gaskets for the hardware itself (exhaust manifold -> turbo, turbo -> o2 housing, o2 housing -> downpipe), but those i will purchase tomorrow or during the weekend.
off to Boston to pickup a manual transmission today... more details to follow soon :thumb:

shame how i'm gonna get this done before my turbo install
I remember seeing that you bought it on c3g and I wished I had the money to buy it at the time. Good luck with the swap bro.
second shipment came in today (yes i know, i'm missing the brake pedal :icon_sad: he's sending that tonight)

gotta get the flywheel resurface :icon_sad:
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u...0812091859.jpg
planning on getting a new clutch as well, but not sure if it's gonna ship in time for Sunday :icon_confused:
nice drew, glad to see ya picked it up. i got a pretty decent deal, 1000 for the trans and they guy said i can take whatever i wanted that had to do with the swap for no cost. got the new clutch/pressure plate/throwout bearing and a new mast cyl. so all im gonna need is the trans, cables, slave cyl, flywheel, shifter and pedals. so lets hope maybe you and i both can be swapped by the end of aug...thatll be friggin awesome.
Make sure you have the little clip that holds the shifter to the cable/white plastic/. I was told that w/o it its worthless and you have to buy the whole set of cables
just finished talking to Stewi on the phone a few seconds ago. He said the same thing; i need a U shaped clip to connect to the cable. I gotta call Denver about a "clutch reservoir" as well. Gotta get in touch with Izzy again and ask for the brake pedal too. only those three things and i'm set
true, i might wait a week to finish my swap, gotta make sure i have everything since this is my DD as well. Good to get the smaller stuff first; i kinda wish Izzy had the stuff ready when i drove to his house a few weeks ago (MA).
If he has lost it, pm me your address and Ill send you a clip. For some reason I have one left over.
i took pictures, i think i found it....

is this it????
yes
whew!!! i feel alot better. thank you for that verification.
Stewi told me they only sell them attached w/ the cables at $120 a piece. thought i had to wait to find another one. thank God i have it
UPDATE: clutch is fixed, but i know some of you won't approve of how we did it. Big thanks to everyone who called/visited my house to help with the fix. The fix was (for now) using an extension from a socket wrench which fits right into the section where the OEM rod goes into the slave cylinder, i'll post a pic tomorrow of how it is now, but it DOES work (temporarily)
I bought and received the extension rod from Extreme PSI today and will install the rod tomorrow afternoon when my friend comes home from work. (you need 2 people to get the slave cylinder back onto the tranny while using an extended rod.....sounds so wrong  )
here's pics from the actual swap with GOOSEY2099....

i have alot more pics from my phone; i'll put them up later tonight :D
3/8" extension FTW!
 exactly. i still can't believe it works too.
ok, sorry i haven't posted in this section for a while.
I got the car back from the shop, the internals for the first tranny were all messed up; had to get a second transmission from SC installed.
After $1100 and waiting til my birthday in Dec, i finally got my car back and she shifts great! I can get to all gears including reverse. Currently I have the 5 CEL codes as expected (4 for the shift solenoids and the torque converter codes).
My speed sensor doesn't work too, so i'm using my GPS for mph lol. Trying to look for another speed sensor and reverse solenoids at local junkyards (if anybody might have one or know someone that has one, please let me know. thanks).
Now i'm wondering about the boomslang harness and EVO ECU. Since i'm manual now, do i really need to connect the original ECU to the harness, or go with what I was gonna do and use both ECUs? Before I install the EVO ECU, i'm definitely gonna go over each and every connection before powering up the ECUs (probably will label all wires with the diagram papers i have from underrated and johnathansgalant). I have to fix my 90degree intake hose too, gonna get a new silicone coupler for that tomorrow.
Update on the EVO ECU and Boomslang Harness:
Minor problem with the harness and the ECU, i don't think many of the connections that are needed are made. Here's some of the pics i took yesterday of it connected to the ECU.
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u...0117000355.jpg
I started labeling the pins and wires for the ecu and harness, so that i make sure i have all connections made. will try to finalize it sometime this week.
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u...117000355a.jpg
Here is what i was talking about. EVO ECU has 2 rows. That 2nd connector to the ecu must have more than only 3 connections, i'll double check this tomorrow morning with the ECU sheets johnathansgalant made.
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u...0117000358.jpg
Top: EVO ECU connections have two (2) rows
Bottom:Stock harness for Galant has three (3) rows

Big thanks to Cali for selling me the speed sensor :) :)
few more pics :)
(Thanks for selling me the speed sensor Cali :D )

wires (black_blue, black, and black_yellow)
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u...otos/wires.jpg
the same diagram from Figure 3. (Black_Yellow is for pin 3, Black_Blue is for pin 4, & ground is pin 2)
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u...ng_diagram.jpg
i plan on installing the speed sensor sometime this week
worked on the speed sensor today, car lost all power (i forgot to secure the negative part of the battery terminal *oops* :TGC: )
wired it up and still doesn't work. maybe i'm wiring to pin 1&2 instead of 3&4 on C-17 :?
can't tell if from the diagrams i should determine 3 & 4 from looking INTO the harness or looking from BEHIND the harness.
any help is appreciated, thanks :)
Any updates Drew?
wow i haven't been on here in a year
i'm in the process of doing the wires on the Boomslang harness and fitting it into the car sometime this month or next month (inspection is in August, that's my deadline). I'm waiting on word from SPD_FRK if his company makes the 4cyl conversion harness, if they do, i'll use that instead of the Boomslang for the Evo ecu.
Turbo wise, started cleaning out dirt and grime from the 14B. Might contact Chris to see about rebuilding the turbo, sometime this month.
Working again so at least i have an income to build up the project on.
That's where I'm at currently; still need gaskets, someone to weld the DP (with AC hopefully) and fitment of the ecu into the car.
edit: thanks to jonathansgalant I will start working on getting the speedo to work again, wiring for that is next week.
Did you do anything else with it over a years time!? o.O
hey drew you know you can hit me up whenever to rebuild it if the play is pretty bad. a rebuild kit is 45 bucks and you know i wont charge you anything and we can go to the bar before you head home
not really, most of last year's work was getting a new clutch and the transmission, not to mention getting a new job (the drive to manhattan is ridiculous :( )
K, forgot the cost of the rebuild kit was that low. Depending on your schedule, i can bring the turbo up to CT and work on it for a bit. (Bar sounds good too  )
The only thing I've been working on lately was the speedometer and the ecu, CEL is freaking me out. I'm close to the point of probably mocking up the stock harness just to get the evo ecu in and pass inspections :/
im busy this weekend but maybe before corona i can get a free weekend or night. def text me whenever.
get this kit BTW out of some of the kits i have seen and used i like this best
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Perfo...Q5fAccessories
its best not to rush it and it will all work out. i may even have a surprise for you....
haha i wish i could make a downpipe for you. it involves the turbo itself.
I'm pretty sure SPD_FRK has completed a conversion harness to run dual ECU's, OEM and Evo.
Hope he doesn't mind me posting the picture here.

here: http://www.galanttuners.com/index.ph....html#msg11997
Yeah he just did that one for a eclipse here in colorado
No problem beam. I'm actually hoping he made one for just a direct conversion; I'm manual so I don't need the galant ecu anymore. Would be great if one is made for the autos as well.
@chris: oooh, ok
