I know it would be fun. It's a toss up for me. My car only has 86k miles and the motor would be a good platform for boost. Maybe one day I will start sourcing out the parts. I just keep telling myself not to, dont know why tho.

Lol I have been collecting parts for years. I have owned this sonata head for about 7 or 8 years.
Wow thats a long time to wait but it will be worth the wait for you..
I have two other projects I NEED to do before I can start picking up parts for this project.
Cant wait to see your numbers man!! Im excited for you..
Thank you. I'm very anxious too. My tuner had already built me a new rom for the head swap. Just need to finish installing everything.
Nice man!! Will be waiting for the updates..
Need a video of the car running when all said and done. Cant wait.
Just had a busy two weekends so I haven't touched it.
Decided two days ago that I wanna do a semi tuck so ordered a bunch of moisture resistant heat shrink, fire retardant expandable sleeving, high temp butt connectors and wire.

Got some boxes sitting here for the swap. My goal is to finish it this weekend.
that's some quality product you got there,, good luck!
Yea it will look ckeaner, doesnt have to be tucked to look good. Let me know hiw good that raychem stuff is compared to basic heat shrink.
Will do.
Did some work today. Didn't get to finish since they sent me the wrong exhaust manifold gasket. I was afraid my IC piping won't fit but I made it work. Also my downpipe sits perfect.

I needed some good Galant related relaxation after work tonight, so I went ahead and read your whole build thread from the beginning. My headache is now gone, so thank you! Nice build!
I can't tell from the picture for sure, but are you running the battery cable through the fender or somewhere else? I'm looking for alternative routes compared to my last relocation.
I'm glad my build thread helped alleviate your headache 😎
Yes the cable does go through the fender. Been that way for years and no issues. How did u run yours previously??
I used the factory hole behind the headlight and drilled one next to the other one in front of the door to enter the cabin. Than down in the driver side harness all the way to the back of course. Worked great, but I feel like there has to be a shorter route.

Shortest route is drilling through the firewall and installing a grommet for saftey.
I think I fed mine with the harness grommet.
I did more work. Evo5 radiator installed. Had to test my welding skills to make the bottom work. Also installed the timing belt. Just need to install the auto tensioner and pull the pin. Still need to wire in the resistor pack since I switched from STI injectors to evo fic 1050cc

Coming along beautifully.. Loving it!!
Had to buy a 2001 Dodge neon upper radiator hose to make the evo5 radiator work #MoparPower

Bottom hose I used the stock one and just cut it shorter.
Spent the last 3 days finishing it. Cut out a plate for the COP from acrylic using the router at work.
Unlike many people who did the swap and said that the cam sensor needs to be extended and so does few other sensors, I unwrapped the harness and got enough slack for all the sensors to route them to their new location. I used an evo crank position sensor and it's so long that it goes over the valve cover and sits next to the fuel rail so that helped me about extending the plug for it.
I will do another session for the full harness clean up.
First start up I had a fuel leak from the feed line. Found out the o-ring was pinched. Replaced it and it ran fine.
Coolant temp sensor connector was broken so I had to fix it since I didn't have a spare

Here an idle video

Looks good, when will it be ready for the track?
Still lots of tuning to do. I'm having an issue with the map sensor. I also don't wanna run it down the strip until I get two slicks and an LSD for it. I really really wanna run it but I'll just spin tires through the gears lol
Time to pull out this one from the bag...

^^lol. Idle sounds good. Like how that neon hose lined up like it was meant to be
I'm having idle issues. Car is running super rich. No matter how much fuel we pulled it is still rich.
Checked the crank and cam sensors. As well as swapped the map sensor and all functioning. Gonna check voltage at the injectors and if that checks out then I need to swap back to sti injectors to see if that works. Compression test is also on the list.
Swapped back to sti injectors and no luck. I'm gonna borrow a spare evo fpr and test.
how long are the injectors staying open?
Not sure. Injectors aren't faulty. There was a suspicion that the ecu is fried cuz the resistor pack is bad. Well confirmed that my resistor pack is fine. Gonna swap ecu anyway and test both ecus against each other.
It's definitely not the injectors cuz I swapped back to my sti injectors and it made no difference. So not sure what's causing it.
The ecu was bad. I borrowed another ecu and the car ran.
Man that is so beautiful. Make me want to start collecting parts for a swap.
