brakes
my front left brake is making a grinding noise.. my disk in the front left and right have many dirty spots, and back are pefcecly clean. as for my noise, its weird since my front brakes are taking out a lot of dust and dirtying the rims up really quickly! the noise isnt much metal griding but a really akward hard to explain niose.. my dad thought it may be that the bad is stuck onto the actual disk??? anyone ever had a problem like this?? ill take pics of the brakes so you can check them out and see if you can answer better... instead of changing the brakes i wanna do a big brake kit or evo brakes

it might be the wear sensor. some cars have electric wear sensors, some have mechanical. the mechanical type is a metal tab will start to rub on the brake disc when the pads are about to be worn out. they make a really irritating screech. on other cars, there is a plug, and when it wears thru, it makes contact, and a lite on the dash comes on.
the pads themselves can be making the noise, especially if you recently changed them. there are a lot of lousy brands out there, and the cheaper brands are more prone to squealing. also, our cars have floating calipers, which also is a really cheap design, and they are more prone to brake squeal, especially when new pads are installed, and the guide pins arent lubed.
all brake pads will dust. the cheaper ones will dust more, and track pads will really dust, but they will stop a lot better, after they have been heated up.
-
is the grinding noise only when you push the brakes, or all the time?
cuz i have been feeling some slight grinding noise myself, and i just got new rotors and pads. brembo cross-drilled and slotted, with the PBR metal-master pads.
-
U JUST NEED TO PUSH THE ROTOR INSIDE HARDE.. HAPPENED TO ME WHEN I GOT THEM INSTALLED AND THEY LIKE BASSHED IT IN WHICH WILL MAKE THEM NOT RUB WITH UR WHEELS..
-
your fronts will dust up quicker than your rear because the fronts do most of the braking.
as for the spotting im guessing thats going to be hot spots on the rotors. meaning they they should go. but i can't confirm that until i see the picture.
whoever installed neel9's rotors is a dumbass. the rotors just float. the caliper and pads really keep the rotors from falling out. but when you put on the wheel and torque it correctly, the rotor is squeezed between the hub and the wheel there's no way that the rotor will be on there crooked.
-
only when i brake, i know front does more dust but this is incredibly fast... its never been THIS QUICK in a week my lip is BLACK normally they wont get dirty taht quick.. and the pads they are good brand from NTB no crappy, and theyve been on for a while.. its only front left... might be that "sensor"?
-
The "sensor" on our cars is the metal tab type. How old are your brake pads and rotors? Pics would really help out here.

Yeah I'm getting the same noise. The guy at Meineke said its my pad sensor when he was backing my car out after fixing a flat  He said he'll check them for me and if I need some pads I can get some cheap ones for 99 installed or ceramic 130-140 installed. Are those good prices for that?
-
hmm, well i got some nice metallic ones for 40 bucks, and i got my rotors and pads put on for 40 bucks each side

depends. axxis ceramics will stop good, but will dust like a mofo. your wheels will be black in just a couple of days. akebono ceramics are oem on a lot of japanese cars. i have them on our mazda and my galant. they take more pressure, but they leave no dust. and i got white wheels, so it really shows. the akebonos are also very rotor friendly.

Describe the "dirty spots" in more detail, or provide some pictures.
It sounds like your rotors have an uneven surface. This would cause
grinding as crap would accumulate in the low spots and grind against
the pad as it passed over, and the pads would wear down a lot faster
due to the rough surface.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Lootrock)</div><div class='quotemain'>What bulbs are those?</div>
Do you mean to ask what temperature bulbs? Because those are HID. They look like they will blind the hell out of oncoming traffic.

i aligned em tonight... left was actually low as hell and right high.. that was after that pic tho.. then i aligned it properly! they are 6000k... WHAT ABOUT MY BRAKES?!?!
-
OMG! That's what been bugging me for a while. Ever since the pad change, it's been doing that since. Except mine's on the rear right brakes (V6).
-
psh you thikn you special cuz you ahve brakes in the back or cuz you got a V6 i do too !!! https://www.thegalantcenter.org/styl...ult/tongue.gif
-
Hva you checked if the rotors are warped?
-
my brakes(V4 ES) does the same exact noise. I think its time to change them and maybe rotors as well. what are some good brakes and rotors(if they're damaged) to buy? and price would help GREATLY https://www.thegalantcenter.org/styl...ault/laugh.gif

I just installed the brake pads myself today. My friend showed me how to do them, so I did one side, he did the other. That was so freaking easy, I want to know why Meineke was going to charge me like 100 dollars for something as simple as an oil change.
