I just bought a pair of 3rd Gen JDM tails. I know how to wire them no problem, but since there are 4 bulbs does it really matter where i place my parking bulb, turn signal, brake light?
Where are the bubls supposed to be located? Well i was just wondering if i can make my turin signal either the white cirlce or the white rectangular part? What are the normal loactions of the bulb?
There are 2 bulbs for red and 2 for white....
normally, the parking/brake is in the red
the reverse and turn signal is in the clear.
but you can wire it up however you want, note that the brake should be in the red and the reverse should be in the clear.

Well this sucks! LOL as we all know the galantforums is down as of now...I just got my taillights and i want to wire them up...I was going to use the tutorial on the galanforums website. Does anybody have the JDM taillight tutorial? Or better yet, i just need to install the new socket but which wires to i tap off of? Brake/Parking/Signal/Reverse?
Also, on our stock tail lights their are three bulbs but I am guessing that the brake and signal are the same bulb? Or no? Which bulb shares 2 fuctions?
reverse you leave alone.
there is a parking light that is shared between the two remaining bulbs. so find the common wire. thats the parking light wire.
then plug the harness back into the car and hit the hazzards. the bulb that blinks has the turn signal. since that socket has 3 wires it should be easy to find out which is the turn signal. one is black ground, the other is that parking light wire, and the last one is the turn signal.
I just finished installing the taillights... It looks good but for some reason the threads(bolts) keeps coming out of the sockets. I kept having to tap them back in. Also i have a slight gap between the tails and the quarter panel. (closest to the side of the car)... Is that ok? It is definitely a tight fit...I noticed that one of the bulb socket it in the way of the harness that plugs all of the sockets in to the car. Is it the same for all of you or no?
mine are wired like this (old pics pre-LED in 2001):
present setup:
outboard red lens = parking AND brake 1157/2057 white LED
inboard red lens = parking AND brake 1157/2057 white LED
outboard clear lens = signal 1156 amber LED
inboard clear lens = reverse 1156 white xenon

1156 bulb, thats the standard reverse bulb right? so did you just rewire the turn signal with a reverse socket and use the factory turn signal socket and make it a brake light? do you have any pics of the harness? I was going to do this but gave up trying to figure out which wires to cut. that and I also want to change my turn signals to LED.Quote:

I also have gaps on the side after the 3rd gen install and its because the 4th bulb socket gets in the way of the harness connector. so just make the hole bigger on the body so the connector can sit flush... and gaps should go away... i havent done that yet either but its just an idea....Quote:

Actually thanks to the help of Jason (MRJaydeeOne) me and him fixed the problem tonight, What we did was, not put the large connector boack to the body of the car, we just tucked it in between one of the crevices on the taillight and all is well!
Problem solved!! I switched the brake and parking sockets since they were in the wrong sides Then on the brake socket there were 3 wires--> GREEN / Green w/white stripe / BLACK.... I cut the green with white stripe and everything is correct!
