Does somebody of you have shaved the ABS system from their 8G? Which parts are needed?
curious,
Is there any real benefit in doing this?
wow....
never understood why anyone would do this.
I mean if its for performance, and you just can't stand the thought of ABS interfering with your elite braking skills... then just pull the fuse on track day.
if its for a show car... why not jsut seal it off in a pretty polished case.
My galant doesn't have ABS, wish it did.
^correct! I <3 my lack of abs......to answer your question I don't know.......
I'm guessing Strizi's doing it to clean up his engine bay.........from the pics i've seen it....is.......BEAUTIFUL!
I believe that all DE model's lack ABS ... UNLESS it was requested, as it is an "optional" choice for the buyer.
It's kind of enjoyable at times.
Not sure why anyone would want the ES 4cyl model.
i have a copy of the 1999 USDM brochure and according to it, all V6's have ABS and it was a package option on the ES I4 premium. in the spec chart, the DE and ES are listed together in one column as ABS optional.
i rather take the 4cyl es over a de anyday
strizi I would go on cardomain and ask TJ. I know for sure that he deleted his ABS. I'm not sure if BJ did or not
strizi have cardomain ?¿
@beam514 thanks i ask him.
@6g72lover i'm not on cardomain,but i'm @ it's my mitsubishi.com and Tunerzine.com
Yes i want to delete the abs cause of the weight and looks.
Both BJ and TJ deleted the ABS system. Essentially all you are removing is the ABS pump and electrical wiring to it. The amount of weight "saved" is honestly about 10-15lbs if that since it is just the pump to be removed.
I never understood the point of removing the ABS on a street driven vehicle, even if its all built up, for a strictly track car I could see removing a lot of items from the vehicle.
Personal preference really, but as mentioned before if you do not want ABS operating then a simple fuse removal for a track day or what have you will suffice without the need for making new brake lines and such.
that is more a function of your suspension, wheels, and tires, not the ABS... the ABS does not kick in until you have lost traction or are right on the limit, ABS only works on braking... ABS is NOT not traction control. in conditions where it is wet or icy, i would never risk not having ABS... it's not worth it. humans simply cannot react as fast as the ABS to avoid locking up the brakes in wet or on ice.
ur assumption is most likely misguided. ABS gives you MORE control since you are not sliding during braking since your wheels are not locked up. also, ABS is only recognizable to the driver when braking hard enough to lose traction and lock up the wheels... during normal driving off of the brakes (costing, cruising and accelerating), there is NO difference between having, and not having ABS, since it is not actively doing anything.
