Anyone who has been into, or interested in fixing up import cars, prior to the current trend of "import racing" style cars, will have seen a wheel setup like that plenty of times before.
Long before the current trend of import racing style rides, the first big wave of custom import cars was the "Euro-low" phase.
10-15 years ago, 16"-17"+ wheel setups were not available like today - and you did not see them on the street. But a typical wheel setup you'd find every single day on a Sentra or Civic (as well as other makes) was baby deep dish wires. Most common size was the 13" x 7" Dayton or McClean, with a Pirelli P-7 175/50 tire. Which is what that guy in the pic has.
If you didn't have those rims, good chance you just had some lil' 13"-15" five star rims or similar. Cuz wheel setups from in Japan, damn sure wasn't in your local custom shop.
Sure, there were a couple of exceptions (the main one back then in S.Ca. was a place called EMI Importing in Torrance that specialized in getting a lot of stuff from Japan).
Yall would of hated my old 90' Civic sedan for sure then, haha. It was featured in Lowrider magazine in 91'. And it won many awards during the time I had it on the Lowrider Magazine show circuit.
Man, is there anyone on here, that has been into imports before the 90's?
And before anyone replies, that there was import racing style rides prior to the 90's..."Yes I know"...I had a 86' Toyota Celica, (which anyone from the 80's knows Celicas were the Honda Civics of today) that had an TRD 18R-UG motor. Go ask anyone from that era about that motor (or anyone else who simply knows the time), and they'll tell you, that at that time, it was the sickest small displacement racing motor coming out of Japan.
If anyone cares to see my Civic sedan Euro-low...explain how to insert a pic and I'll post a pic and a breakdown of it's mods.
Ok, ok so the guy in the pic may be 10 years behind haha.
