Since the 7G's have one, we should too. I know I have a ton of random questions... So here goes nothing.

Why do we have the huge wheel gap in the front?
because it's a grocery getter :-P
Lol.
oops didn't realize this wasn't OT. On a serious note, I would assume ground clearance.
ok I got 2... can I get a new speed sensor for the 5 speed swap.. like new new, whats the part number? and can we bolt up the jdm double wishbone suspension?
Design of the body.
Ground clearance, body design, and the drivetrain.
Ground clearance: well duh, this car is made (in the US at least) to be a grocery getter.
Body Design: if you think about the shape of the front end, it's actually pretty sleek and thin. This makes the car look good, but obviously gives less room for suspension components. Now you might be wondering how a company like BMW can pull off thin AND have little wheel gap, which leads to the next point..
Drivetrain: BMW, Audi, and other luxury brands typically have their cars formatted to be RWD. What does this mean? This means that the engine is longitudinally mounted and can be lower in the engine bay. This also means that there is no need to have the transmission driving front driveshafts, which saves space. Also, since the engine is longitudinal, this saves space from side-to-side and allows more room for the suspension components (which aren't straight up and down).
That's my theory at least
So I have the fiberglass fender flares... How does everybody attach them? Do you need the rubber seal for them? I guess I'm at a lost. last I heard people where molding taping them to g. how?
Where did you get them?
Mundane detail i know but my 8G has an ash tray and I'v noticed many others dont, why so?
some had the smoker package, which included a ash tray and 2 sockets.
I got one. Why did the 8g never come in manual but yet have the holes in the firewall for a slave cyliner??
I know it looks like hell and freaking annoying, Ive seen people in my area with a dubbed out galant with tint and auto zone go-fasters but a still have an unsightly off-road truck wheel gap.
I used to hate it so much I took speed bumps at 35, BTW never try that on coil-overs. LOL
I always thought the G resembled a late 90's 5series......
this, and even if those DE's don't exist (which they do), then this would be for ease of manufacturing. Because the Eclipse and Galant are the same platform, they can use the same processes to make parts for both. Although the overall shape of the firewall might be different, the location of certain mounting points, bolt holes, etc. needs to be the same. They can transfer over the majority of the design to the Galant firewall.
It all comes down to cost and ease of manufacturing. It's a fact of life.
No we cant for the fact that theres no flat spot around the strut mount for the upper A arm to mount. I believe the 7g galant and the 8g jdm shares the same suspension. Its funny how the crap sonata has double wish bone suspension and the us 8g doesn't.
double A arm(wish bone)>macpherson strut
