I noticed a lot of threads w/ information on Turboing our cars, but I havent seem to run across a thread with a lot of nitrous information. I want to make sure I do things right the first time, so I don't damage my internals. Can we make a "What you need to know about Nitrous" thread, or am I just not seeing it? Thanks in advance
dsmtuners used to have these 3 stickies that were great for newbs, explained everything you needed to know. they revamped their site recently and i can't find them, but here's the link to their nitrous section.

runnin a 50 shot u should be ok just dont spray when u dont need to if ur going to race and shut it off dont go spray happy or it will kick ur ass..
most people recamend gagues when u do it u can if u want like a air fuel one to see if u lean out.. lot of popele say change ur injectors witch should be done if ur going ot stay with it but if u just want it to have it u will be ok...

if it's a wet kit, no need to change the injectors. getting a narrowband a/f gauge won't do shit, and neither will a wideband. by the time you see something is wrong, you're dead anyways. an EGT gauge is perfect. it will tell you when shit is going to start going down when the temps get too hot.Quote:

yeah. well you'll need the probe and a gauge to read it (duh). i'm ordering the autometer EGT gauge in a couple days.
so if I get an EGT probe and gauge I might as well not get an A/F Gauge then... cuz I only want 2 gauges total and 1 of them is going to be a voltmeter
A/F gauge is pretty much worthless.
EGT gauge is essentially a must.
a/f is more useful than an egt gauge, but only if it's wideband. you should get the zeitronix zt-2 wideband kit. it will display wideband, and you can hook up and egt probe to it also. on top of that, it will datalog to a computer so you can actually tune your car. plus it looks nice :wink: http://www.zeitronix.com/
i still don't see the purpose of having a voltmeter permanently connected in the car? :?
im runnin the voltmeter to my ignition fuse so it only comes on when the car is turned on
yeah, but why do you want to know the voltagewhenever the car is on? i understand hooking up a voltmeter when you're having electrical problems, but why do you want one monitoring power whenever the car is on?

an ampmeter (ammeter or w/e) will be a lot more usefull for monitoring your sound system
I plan on getting a capacitor too... pretty much I already have this voltmeter and want to make use of it
Don't get a cap, it's a temporary solution to a permanent problem. Get a deep-cycle battery and do the Big Three. If you still dim after that, get another battery for the trunk and a performance alternator, but that shouldn't be necessary unless your amps are drawing some serious voltage.Quote:

OK Jumping back on the subject. I know who I should talk to about Nitrous (the topic at hand) noone of your post talk about the compression you need to run nitrous. Everyone wants to know what you can do with stock internals but to be honest if your not serious about running Nitrous, if your not willing to get new pistons rings, Headgaskets etc. why would you even wanna deal with it?

catback and headers arn't a must. you can run the nitrous perfectly fine without them. i installed it myself, and you should too. if you don't, considering how easy it is, well, yeah :roll: . put my bottle behind the driver seat so i could open it quickly on the fly.

which kit r u using ?
peano when you first installed it what mods did you have? Did you run it stock for a while then upgrade internals?
i'm running a wet kit (zex 82021). when i first installed it, all i had was the fuel pump + rewired. i also bought 24 spark plugs 2 steps colder than stock. nitrous loves to eat through spark plugs so you have to change them out every 3-4 bottles. my internals are still 100% stock, this will change drastically in 2 weeks though :twisted:
so you had the Walbro 190 rewired, any gauges to go w. that? and I dont think I'd want my bottle right behind the front seat, that would be a lil more $$ for one of those kits.

why would it be more money? its the same as any other wet kit.
none of my gauges are nitrous related, i thought about a bottle pressure gauge but i've been reading the ZEX one isn't accurate and then i just got discouraged so i didn't bother with the NX one (plus it isn't very pretty).
isnt there a seperate line you have to buy if you dont want the hassle of opening and closing the bottle when you want to use it?
you can get a remote bottle opener, costs about $100.
or you can mount it behind your drivers seat and use your arm.
Well you can get a remote bottle opener and just have the bottle wherever the fuck you want it, but it'll run you.
