I haven't. I'm not sure of the key's structure under the plastic part, but the transponder chip to neutralize the immobilizer is in there and I'm not sure how modifying the key will affect its operation. But if you got a mind to try it out, I wouldn't mind seeing what you do, but I'd try it on a valet key first.

Ok I guess I’ll try it out.
Subscribe and stay tuned for pictures and explanations on how to do or if it’s even possible.
I dont care enough of what my key looks like to do this.
Its either in my back pocket, or in the ignition
Don’t like having too much on my key chain so if I can combine 2 into 1 I’m doing it… Wish I could have my keys like a Swiss knife lol
I did it not too long ago. My car doesnt have remote door locks so its empty inside. I used an evo fob like this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/320824801603...84.m1497.l2649
Then I had another key made which replaced the blank key in the fob.
Here's a quick tutorial, but its in VW fob. The internals are the same.

i found this on the web. wondering if its going to work
just a heads up OP. some car alarms feature flip out keys.

http://www.ecutool.com/Mitsubishi-Fl...tton_4728.html is another
Meh I hate the new flip keys and keys with buttons built in. In fact I hate factory keyless and security.
For me there's nothing like the look of this:

Plain key with Viper remote starter (My 14MPG Daily :FML:)
as much as i would like to do this, it wont work due to the way the key portion is backward, if you look and compare it to your key you will see what im saying.
you need a left key blade
they have many different types of keys you can put on their
they make blank Mitsubishi flip keys

We can offer the blank keys for most of the types for the car brands below:
1- TOYOTA
2- NISSAN
3- MAZDA
4- MITSUBISHI
5- HONDA
6- SUBARU
7- Isuzu
Well that even better! it was late when I read the posts, so I might look into this more,

The guy who makes them lives in Waitakere City of New Zealand.
Cheaper is we bundle and instal ourselves. Excited for this.
I'll be shooting out an email some time this week to figure out if it will ne a direct fit for the controller board for the keyless entry, on anything ill be the funny pig in this since it will be cheap

This is another flip key remote I found
This has lock, unlock, and trunk. Witch is what I need but don't know if the original board will fit or line up in this

Very interested in this but I don't have the trunk button on my remote. Does he just offer the shell with just the lock/unlock buttons?

It's easier finding two button shells than three. Finald8 has the two button and he will post on here or text me when he gets an email back from the company. We want to make sure there is no mods necessary if we get it
Went to a locksmith today to see if it was possible to make the flip key conversion.
I was told because the car key requires a chip to turn on the car it will not be possible to make it.
I still have hope
Ask your nearest locksmith if it is possible
we can do this and glue it inside the shell

hmmm...i think there might be a way to mod the key/transponder to have keyless start. what do you guys think??
Someone didnt do their homework.
We have more questions than answers
Lets not asume anything. Send me his contact info and i will get answers cuz i work at night
I FOUND IT!!!!!
This is for the Galants with only an unlock and lock buttons.
Not for the ones that have a trunk or panic button. (which is what I’m looking for)

BUMP
Did you ever get this done? I've always wondered about this!
Sent from my Galant :D
I can confirm that that does not work you have to do some heavy modding to the case in order for it to fit. The blank key that it comes with does not work with 8g galants or 3g eclipse's. I have recently purchased a new keyblank and try cutting it in order to fit into it currently i have mine taped to fit inside the case with the electronic board.

2000-2006 Mitsubishi Galant(Excludes Galant ES/EX)
I havent done it. I need a 3 button remote for mine. I have the trunk on my key fob and they don’t make it with 3 buttons. I emailed him so I’m waiting for a response to see if i can get one custom made :)
email response:
Dear 03gallant Hi,we checked it and found we don't have the suitable flip key shell for you at present, hope you can understand it.
Best regardsFiona
I think what will end up happening is getting the 2 button fob and mod it to fit the trunk button. Getting the right blank key is still a problem.
I will keep updating status on progress
if you want a flip key mod you will have to do some cutting of the shell. I have made a flip key mod with the vw key mod and the lock unlock button works as well as the key that i cut for it. Costed me a total of 30$ and some cutting

theres a collection of photos kind of what i had to do in order to get it to fit and the buttons work too. there is a small place for the trasnpaonder chip next to the flipping key.
Only for 2 button plug and play
If the inside of your key fob looks like the one on the left in the picture this is the link: http://m.ebay.com/itm/130834364777?nav=SEARCH

Edit: key will have to be looked at by your local locksmith.
that one doesnt work the battery is mounted upside down i had to chop off the inner tabs when i first got it.
OK..... Now that you got me alot more interested in this post then ive been in a while WILL! this key fit the 2001 8G, Im about 50% sure i can take it to the local auto sounds place i go to and have a module installed so i dont need the factory chip anymore.

atm im not to worried about the alarm set up but for sure i want the flip out key, If i end up setting up the alarm which chip would i need for that case?
Plug and play. Now to modify a third button for the trunk.
It came out great. Spent hours with locksmith. Suggest to buy extra key blanks in case they cut too much

I did that too until i opened my remote key fob and found out that my internals fit in without modifications. Had to buy a second one.
This is a picture of what i did before i opened up my remote. Dont do this without opening your factory remote.

Please refraze your question.
i think with a little patience, you could dremel out a space for the original trunk button boot to fit and be good. I'll have to look at the inside of the remote again.
