5 speed swappers...help
Quick question...any of you have the reverse lights come on when you put the car in reverse? I just got my reverse sensor from Bronxbomr (Thanx Al) and I am pretty sure I know where on the trans the thing goes. My problem is the connector that clicks in the back....I dont seem to have the right one or one at all. Anyone have any pics? Or do I have to swap the one from the auto (splice wires) and put on a 5 spd connector?
-
i still have to setup my reverse lights. Mine don't work either :TGC:
-
The reverse sensors are a different length if I recall correctly but make sure you spliced the correct wires in the harness first.
-
Youll surely have to splice the wires... If i call correctly in a thread i read from somewhere it said the green and white wire were the ones.. IDK it will take a very long time to search for that too.

yeah I am gonna have to try that ^^^ when he and I did my swap I didnt have the sensor. Now I actually need it! LOL
-
If it's similar to the 8G 5 speed swap, you're gonna have to splice some wires. I used some old connectors I had sitting around and spliced one end into the car harness, and the other to the reverse solenoid, so that I could easily unplug it whenever needed
-
Oh boy its been a while... but i do recall splicing the wires.
-
u have to splice the wires
-
ill post up the wiring diagram when i get home.
-
Thanx for the info guys! The help is much appreciated
-
they were two red wires on the big plug from the auto tranny harness
-
^^^ok....and? Did they look different? Couldnt have been just 2 red wires...was it red with white stripes, red with green? So the big ass plug I have is the one from the auto trans....thats the one I gotta rip apart? Cool

Lol I haven't hooked mine up either

After a few months of driving my 7g around I found out my brake lights came on every time I hit the clutch pedal or the brakes. Be sure to check that out too.
-
^^Nah...all my lights work properly...I just have no reverse lights thats all

you can splice or you can get some spade connectors for each wire so it can be unplugged in a pinch
-
I have some connectors. I am just gonna cut the wires and crimp em into the connectors and plug em in. I dont need the plug from the auto anymore so...
Thanx guys! I'll keep yall posted

anyone have a pic of where on the top of the 5spd trans where the sensor goes? nwhere I think it goes...the bolt wont move so...
-
-
AH! That is the right bolt...shit. It wont budge!

Hate to bring up an old thread and then change focus of the thread but for some reason I can't start a new post anymore. Can someone point me to a source for a stainless steel clutch fluid line running from the clutch master cylinder on the firewall to the clutch slave cylinder?
-
^^Have you changed over to the standard theme for TGC? At the bottom of the screen, you'll see a box that says "TGC Dark - Fluid." Change that to "vB4 Default Style" and everything should work as it's supposed to, albeit with the normal forum skin. gojirars pointed that out and that's what everyone's been starting to do to get the site work work normally.
As for your question, I don't have a clue, sorry.
