Just wondering who has the highest mileage on an 8G. I read about tranny problems on them and wonder what kind of mileage I can expect before trouble.
then why didn't you just ask if anybody has tranny problems and at what mileage did they start?
but to answer your question, 95K and never had a problem w/ the tranny.
someone in ny i believe was trying to sell an 8g i think a 99 with 247k miles on it.
00 GTZ with 85k, I drive like a rock star and my tranny is still pretty smooth https://www.thegalantcenter.org/styl...ault/smile.gif They are good trannys, just dont do alot of neutral drops with em....
I have 97K with no tranny problems.
i have a 2000 with 130K miles on it and never hd a tranny problem. if yours feels like its slipping try to get the tranny fluid changed, it might need it. if it continues after the fluid change then...... new tranny most likely.
117k 01 4cyl, no tranny prglem so far, and i had my tranny fluid changed 3x so far....
2001 es 78k...no probs here
99 ES 47700
2k1 GTZ my tranny went out at 90K.. had to get a new one it cost me $2500
Whoa, your tranny went out? Can you tell us more about the symptoms you had? Thanks.
Yeah, tell about the warning signs, if any you had before the tranny went out. But on the topic of highest miles, I did hear about one guy here that had 250K that was planning on selling his. Guys here were joking about advertising it as 1/4 million miles..lol But personally, I have 220K on my 1999 ES V6, that I bought new off the lot in August on '99.
01 4banger ES. 70k no probs at all. Flush the tranny every 30k. bought the car new. I know it cant be a bad tranny cuz my woman drives it mostly.. and she beats the hell outta my poor little car.
99gtz 140,000 miles bought new in 98 never had a problem
I got a 01 GTZ, bought it with 48k, im pushin a lil over 50 now. for an extra grand i got a 50,000 mile, 4 year bumper to bumper with it. Tranny problems dont scare me. Im under warranty.
I actually still gotta go pick up my plates. My temp expires this month.
it's reassuring to hear that the v6 8g's have been so reliable for a lot of people when it came to major components. yay for mitsu... for once
250k is nuts though
before i bought this car, i did a SHITLOAD of research on various cars.( SE-R Spec V was my second choice) I have actually read reviews stating the quality of the mitsu drivetrain.
145K+..... 2000 Galant, 2nd owner. Changed the timing belt at 133K and replced one of the coilpack boots once.. Just routine maintenance.
I now have 107k on my GTZ, tranny is starting to slip I think, I'm going to change the tranny fluid and hopefully make it through the winter...5-speed swap will happen in the spring. https://www.thegalantcenter.org/styl...ault/smile.gif
81,xxx on my 00 ES, no tranny problems, thought I felt one slip before one day but havent felt anything close to it since, no tranny changes.. I'll prolly let the fluid thats in it sit over winter and flush it in spring
I might be buyin a BMW real soon too https://www.thegalantcenter.org/styl...ault/laugh.gif
If you take it in to have the fluid changed, opt for the power flushing and also change the filter or strainer, depending on what year model you have. I have a '99 ES V6, and it has an external tranny filter that looks like an oil filter. I believe that may have been the only year that was equiped with an external filter, but not sure. Also you might want to take it to a transmission shopor the dealership and have it properly checked out. By the way, I now have 258K on mine and still now problems.
Thats 38,000 miles since your last post. You do drive alot! How long you gonna keep the G?Quote:

111,679 miles on a 00 galant ES I4
102,000 on my 01 LS and loving every mile!
01 and 60,654 miles and still pulling as hard as ever.
99 130,000+ and still goin strong. gettin ready to do some maint. like plugs, belts and what not. reg oil changes is a must https://www.thegalantcenter.org/styl...lt/biggrin.gif
170,xxx on a '00 ES...still going strong...no tranny issues etc. I think if you take care of your car, ie not race it, and do the maintenance when your supposed to (don't wait till until the timing belt breaks to change it, common sense stuff) the car should last every bit of 250K miles or more...
Only major issue I've had was a studdering from 2400-2700 rpm around 140k (2 months after getting new magnacor wires)...got a new head gasket, plugs (OEM NGK), seals and wires and I was good to go...
180450 miles on a 99 V6 galant
