how does it look?

I'm not done yet. still have to make a shroud to cover the bolts/adjusters and seal up the rear. probably be completely done with the driver side tomorrow. the passenger side shouldn't take long since the braces on that side should be exactly the same (just reversed). so I traced the shapes on plexiglass.

Wow that looks really cool. What did you do with the corner light, is it in there but just covered up? I can't tell. Anyways, they look really nice, I'll bet if you could make a bunch, you could probably sell them. They have kind of a JDM/Cibie look in a US housing. Nice.

Looks nice, how did you do that? are they selling it the projectore for our
8 g yet? https://www.thegalantcenter.org/styl...fault/ohmy.gif
-
i didn't install the corner lights yet. it will be at the stock location. i will use carbon fiber for the shroud. here's some pics of the braces inside. it looks like the cibie projectors because the projector modules are the same ones. they are made by Hella. Very high quality. Hella makes projector modules for audis, bmw's,ferrari,...

this is a custom job. there are no direct replacement projectors for US galants yet. Cibie makes one, but its for JDM galants.

looks good astig, how much did that run you. and what material did u use for the face of the headlight, the clear part, that doesn't look oem

Very nice job! If I were you I would really consider making these for people. You could make some nice money doing these on the side.
P.S.- If you do decide to make these for others PM me.

here's some pics from tonight. I aimed the headlights using the stock headlight (passenger side) as reference.
first thing you'd notice in person is the colorshifting from the typical yellow then -> purple -> blue -> copper -> yellow. Very nice! similar to the audi's, but without the copper color. This is not HID-equipped yet. the colorshifting is all due to the optics of the projector. I am guessing that with HID installed, the yellowness will be gone.
notice that the beam pattern is nicer. very sharp cutoff, and the light is dispersed well. i took the car for a spin. I am very impressed. it was very bright. it light up the road really well.

wow...u better post the final results GJ!!
-
good job....yeah Iwanna see final pics too
-
wow, alot of hard work into that...
i'm not likign the way the beam looks kinda sloppy to oncoming traffic though... maybe it was just your positioning when you snapped the pic...
-
did you see the sharp beam cutoff against the garage door? that means no glare above that cutoff line. the picture was taken about 1 ft from the ground to show the colorshift. unless your on a louge (sp) it shouldnt bother you. hehehe.

Hey man, love that project of yours so far. When you finish you gotta write a tutorial for that mod and tell us where to get the parts. I'm pretty good at attempting things but i'd like to have the input from a person who has already had success doing it. Can't wait to see the finish project.
-
Goood job, post pics of final result, and a tutorial wouldn't hurt niether.
-
Noticed that the projector light is about the same size as our fogs. Possible to put in another projector as our fog?? Just wondering.

anything's possible, but headlights and fog lights have a different beam pattern... fogs are much wider than headlights. you could go and get CATZ MSC's since they are almost exactly the same size as our OE 893 fogs and they look like projectors.

pics with the shroud covering the bolts/adjusters. i painted the shroud and the chrome inside with hi temp black.

Wow. Very impressive https://www.thegalantcenter.org/styl...ault/smile.gif So how much do ya want for a pair? hehe.
-
Truly awesome! So have you decided what you will do with the turn sigs? I say go orange definitely!
By the way, how did you get that clear cover from the black housing? I tried everything but that stupid glue!!! arrrrrgggg
-
i heated the headlight inside the oven for 10 minutes. this way all the adhesive is evenly heated up. the lense comes off easy with very liitle force.
1. pre heat the oven to 250 (5-10 minutes).
2. TURN OFF the oven after 10 min.
3. make sure you did #3.
4. place the headlight in the oven on a cookie sheet for 10 minutes
5. take the headlight out.
6. pry the lense off. you shouldnt need any tools doing this as the adhesive would be very soft.

Thanks! I'm going to try that this weekend!
You said you used hi-temp paint. Is that available in spray can form? Sorry about all these questions. I think you've inspired many of us to try to do something similar!
It would be great if you could make a tutorial on how you hooked both lights up too!
Too nice! Awesome job again!
-
the paint came in a spray can. its available at your local auto parts stores.
right now the wiring is very basic. i would do what reelax did. that way i could keep the low beam on even when the hi beam is on.
-
Very nice indeed. Mad props to you ASTIG for some very hard work and creativity!!!
Now you should try and find some bright yellow-gold's for your turns!
-
Love the new avatar. :lauging:
-
Checked out Hella lights but couldn't figure out which ones you used. Whats the model you chose and how much greens did it cost ya?
-
i used the 90mm projector modules for the lows. the highs are also 90mm but are not projectors. although you can use the low beam projectors for highs by removing the shield inside the unit. http://www.susquehanna.com/susq/new.htm , $54 a piece. these are DOT versions.
-
thank reelax. i corrected it. the comma had to be separated from the url.
-
-
Damn astig damn  that looks EXTREMELY good, i'd want chrome housings like stock but thats AWESOME!
-
Hey man thats lookin REAL nice! Keep up your good work! https://www.thegalantcenter.org/styl...lt/biggrin.gif Cant wait too see the finished product! You think you can make some Altezzas like the ones BGR photoshopped? You've got some mad skills boy! What do you use to reseal the headlights? I wanna paint the inside of mine Silver or Black. Might be my next project.....
-
thanks for the comments. i've been busy with other things this weekend so i didn't get started on the 2nd one yet, but the driver side is all done. i used high temp rtv silicone to reseal it. i have taken alot of pictures of the process and i will post them when i get done. hopefully tonight i can get started.
damn i gotta stop playing "Ghost Recon" online. hehehe.
