144.64lb/ft @ 2500rpm
umm. that doesn't sound so spectacular to me.
diesel, gets much better mpg... and though the power sucks, the potential for an increase is there.
Diesels have so many issues with them the casual enthusiast/tuner isn't gonna be able to do much and see as much return with diesels as they can with gas engines. You would have to lean much more heavily on a proper tune (A/F ratios, valve and injector timing advance, etc.) with a diesel because the rev range is smaller. The conversation is moot unless you're talking turbodiesel, so since we're already turbo, upgrading your forced induction will eventually yield diminishing returns, so for the money, your performance isn't gaining as fast as it does with gas. There's more to it I'm leaving out, but on this forum, the point seems fruitless. Really, I think unless we're talking about a turbodiesel that's high-performance from the factory (BMW 335d comes to mind), it's not worth it to mod a diesel.
