what kind of problems has any of you guys had with the 7g?

My g is auto, rebuilt once. The timing belt broke twice (luckily no problems) less than a year apart. I was stranded once on the hiway!! The damn water pump broke on me after timing belt change (was replaced). My power windows are slow and weak. Sometimes it will get stuck. Is it me or mitsubishi sucks? Is it a Lemon? She is only has 76k miles. All of these problems just plain piss me off!! But with all the issues that I had go on with my g, I still love my 7g . sorry I just need to vent..

Im pushing 68k and have yet to replace the timing belt from my knowledge(bought the car at 40k) and really have only had to replace one battery, lower ball joints, and my iac motor needs replaced right now. Other than that, it has ran like a champ.

Sounds like you have a lemon, could be just bad luck though...

    141,000 miles

Small oil leak at valve cover
    Mysterious "second" oil leak
    driver's side window stuck occasionally
Cooling fan refused to work on its own

Relatively few problems until the big one: Sudden crumpling front left fender, discharging airbags, cracking radiator, cracking engine block, tearing of transmission mount front and rear rollstoppers, etc.

I miss it, much better than the turd kicker I hafta drive now.
Overall Mitsubishi has one of the better reputations for high build quality among the mid-priced manufacturers (yeah BMW and Mercedes are a bit better, but cost 3X as much so it all works out)Even than there's occasionally the bad car.

The old G was pushin 130K and only had routine maintenance...

Current G just had the crank shaft sensor replaced (w/2 new belts), otherwise no problems... yet anyway ::knocks on wood::

Uh, I haven't had a single problem that was not self induced. There was the whole DOHC head debacle, back to SOHC now after the DOHC swap didn't work too good. Its funny how the car works perfectly fine after all the torture I did to it. My tranny has had some hesitation ever since it became 20 degrees outside, so I better knock on wood or else my tranny will break.

new brakes when I got it (28K) sucked when I got the car, so I made them change them
new water pump (30K) fuggin died
    new belts (35K) Squealing
new brakes AGAIN (68K) Stuck caliper
    new timing belt (71K) Maintainence

My car rattles aroung 2700 RPM due to the exhaust.

Rebuilt transmission (A/T) once, soon after buying it at 80,000km's.

Now about 130,000km's and the transmission computer died recently and had to have it fixed again.

    98 Galant ES/auto:
Bought it with 43,500 miles, now has 99,500 miles.

Timing Belt broke at about 93k miles. I had mechanic change it at 63k miles, but from what the other mechanic told me, he didn't do it. I don't blame mitsu for it.

Wheels and Brake pads: Normal maitenence
    Starter @ 70k: It happens.

Thats it as far as engine goes...but i have more "problems"

    1) Tranny sucks. It always clicks (hits) from Park to Drive and from 1st to second. I had it looked at when I bought the car but was told by Mitsu "thats how the tranny is".

    2) Paint sucks: My car "was" black...not much anymore. The roof, trunk, hood, qtr panels all have white haze on it. The doors are starting to get it now. The roof feels like sandpaper. Mitsu denies problem although I have seen and heard from several owners with the same problem.

    3) Windows roll up slow and drivers side gets stuck on occasion, I just need to "pull" on the window.

    4) AC: It drains a lot of power. In my parent's camry and corolla (275k miles) you can't even tell when the AC comes on.

    5) Air Vent When I turn the vent on (Not AC) and I have the air circulating throughout the car, I get a loud and annoying ticking from behind the passenger side air bag.

    6) Attenna will no longer go down. It is suppost to retract when radio is off...that was a feature that stopped about 15k miles ago.

    7) Resale Value It ranks up there with Korean and American made cars

I think that is "it". Remember, my car is only 5-6 years old with less than 100k miles. It is not 7-10 years old. If it was say a 94, I'd say 'it IS 10 years old' Sorry but I would NEVER even look at another mitsu. If I win won, I will sell it. To me mitsu is like a ford...sorry guys. I plan on getting rid of the car by early summer. I will buy a new Toyota. My brother has an 98 eclipse and his sunroof leaks! The only plus for mitsu is...the engine hasn't cost me much money. I will put about another 5k on it and trade it on in. With the trade-in maybe I can buy lunch at McDonald's

    Happy Holidays everyone!
