    Electric Supercharger by Thomas Knight

While looking for an upgrade from my twin setup I came across this. If it were not from a sight backed by T.K I wouldnt have looked twice but since its there well..take a look. Price is 1995.00 Damn!!! Follow link here but read below

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'>Thomas Knight is proud to unleash the revolutionary ESC-400? Electric Supercharger Â*

This is not that POS bilge pump fan you've seen on eBay that barely pushes 1 PSI. This is not a leaf blower. Our product works. This is real technology. From a real company. Pushing real power. Â*

Our patent-pending ESC-Series Electric Supercharger? technology shocks the competition with up to 20 PSI of instant boost. Yes, we said 20 PSI. In 3/10 of a second. With zero parasitic loss. Â*

Can your leaf-blower add 75+ HP with the push of a button? We didn't think so. Â*

But if this isn't a gimmick, how did we accomplish the impossible? Simple. We're very good at what we do. The ESC-400? features a powerful twin-rotor core and CNC 60-16 T6 aluminum billet, but unlike conventional roots-type superchargers, it isn't belt-driven. And unlike the hundreds of failed designs before it, the ESC-400? doesn't suck current straight from your alternator. Both would reduce your system's efficiency when you need it most. By Thomas Knight standards, that's unacceptable. Â*

Instead, the ESC-400's custom-wound 18HP electric drive system is powered by an independent, renewable source: ultra-lightweight MIL-SPEC racing batteries. The kind specifically designed for hardcore use and lightning-fast recharge. Think of these as your Nitrous tanks, adding 15,000 watts of boost without the $1,000 to $10,000 a year in refills (do the math: our customers with Nitrous go through 1-4 bottles/week, and at $30 to $45 per bottle, that's from $1560 to $9360 a year ). Instead, these bad boys recharge for free. A SPDT switch bypasses your alternator while the ESC 400 is running, eliminating all parasitic loss. Â*

And remember, because this is a simple electrical system, your recharge options are limited only by your imagination and technical ability. In the most basic setup, you can charge off your stock alternator when the ESC 400 is not running (recharge in 4-8 minutes), but we recommend installing a high-capacity alternator like those used in advanced stereo systems (recharge 1-2 minutes). So while you're waiting in the staging lanes or cruising along the strip, you can hurl insults at the Nitrous guys while your system preps for another 15-second burst of sheer power. Â*

That's more than enough time to run the quarter mile or remind that high school kid with the neon muffler bearings who his daddy is. Â*

I told you we were good. It's what you've come to expect from Thomas Knight. After all, we've been designing custom kits for high-speed boostheads since 1976. With the invention of the Electric Supercharger, Thomas Knight has opened a new chapter in performance technology. Get ready for the ride of your life. Â*

Yeah, I've seen that advertised in Import Tuner and stuff. Kinda weird. It might work, but probably won't get much steet respect. Kinda pricey too. I'd rather just pay a little more for SDS.

it looks like more of an alternative to nitrous. it has a max duration of 15 seconds. more for like the track or the street races not for like longer distance racing. it isn't like a traditional supercharger when you have the power all the time.

Webhosting for less than $3 a month? put "pinoyesv6" as a promo code.

could be interesting if combined with a big turbo to create a anti lag system

    a 15-second burst of sheer 75hp POWER!!
And you can laugh at the nitrous guys too!!!
And it has NO parasitic loss!!!
And...and...and....it's not worth it at all. How much was it, $2k for the blower ALONE? You guys do remember that you need other supporting mods for that thing to be useful, right? That's gonna set you back a few more dollars. The thing only flows what, 400cfm? A 16g will flow 500 or so cfm, i think. And it costs a hell of a lot less to put a 16g on your car than this glorified leaf-blower.
And their nitrous argument doesn't sit well with me either. Sure, laugh at the slow guys running a 75 shot, fantastic. But that's about it. Nitrous has 0 parasitic lag, too. And it costs less. And how many of you are going through 4 bottles a week? Most likely none of you.
As this thing sits right now, it's worthless. Until some major improvements are made to this design, it will never beat a good old classic turbo, or a nice bottle of nitrous. And it probably won't ever be better than either.

totally agreed. nitrous is by far waaaay more superior than this piece of shit. even if nitrous didn't exist, this thing still sucks because its TOO DAMN EXPENSIVE. $2000????? for 75 hp?

you can read more about it here

    http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?s=&t...15&pagenumber=3

an upgrade in alternator to 200+ amp system is needed along with a 24v setup

here's what he got on his probe gt v6

"With the ported housing I sustained 5.5 psi all the way to 6700 rpm, which means more airflow than 405 CFM @ 5.5 psi. Should be well over 500 CFM"
