    neons

I was wondering if the only place to tap a 12v source is the ciggarette lighter for neons and also if anyone has neons in the cars, do they have pics of where they put them, i need ideas of where theyd look best.

Your best place to tap 12V is at the fuse box on the battery side, not the accessory side. I don't recommend tapping the lighter circuit directly at the lighter, although it can be done if you fuse the connection. It's just easier and more sensible to tap the fuse block and add an inline fuse for your neons.

Also, I don't recommend the ghetto method for tapping the fusebox of just shoving the wire in behind the fuse. That's a cheap way out and potentially disasterous if something shorts out. Spend the extra time to actually tap and secure the wiring. You can get a small tapit connector that plugs into the fuse socket and provides a connection point out.

I've got my neons under the seats. They look OK, but my amp is under the passenger seat so it blocks some of the light.

depending on how many neons you have, you might want to build a seperate circuit. my friend's car caught on fire and i blew a fused link by hooking up too many neons to the fuse box. its not that hard.

this is what i did on mine. took a ring terminal and crimped it onto some pretty thick wire. i used 10 gauge wire but thats overkill in most cases. took that. and ran it to the passenger compartment. ran that to under my center armrest. in there i have a distribution center. here, my neons grab their power.

don't forget to add fuses. fuse at the battery and then to be safe, fuse each componnet.
switches are optional but i'd add them for more control

i'd also recommend putting in a relay so that the neons or whatever else you got on the circuit would only turn on when the car is on. so that way if you accidentally forget to turn them off, you don't drain ur battery at night.

i have two 12" neons and two strobes, u think that is too much to hook up to the fuse box or can i even split my amp power wire usin a distribution block wit one wire to the amp and the other to where ever i am gonna put my switches or is that too much of a hassle and i should just put a second ring on the battery. also pinoy, u have any pics of ur distribution center or neons, i tried ur www but it wasnt workin.

waht caused me problems was hooking up 2 neons bars a pair of led's and a strobe light.

but yea depending on your amp wire you can probably get a distribution block and use that. i was gonna gonna do the same thing by using a distribution block but the prices for a distribution box were too expensive for me and was pretty much overkill for what i was doing. so i made my distribution center. from parts from radio shack. pretty much splits my power wire 5 different ways to make 5 more circuits and fuses them to be safe. everything is hidden under my center armrest so i didn't take pics though. but its not that hard to do.
