    Tranny Fluid?

    2001 I4 Galant ES 33k miles

I just checked my fluid and I know I have to change it. I wanted to know if if is ok to use MOBIL1 synthetic ATF instead fo the mitsubishi diamond atf? Also I work at a parts store and I have a tranny filter listed for my car does anyone know if I should change the filter or just change the fluid?

i don't have an i4 so i dunno if your car still has the external tranny oil filter. the older 8g's had both an internal and external tranny oil filter. the external one looks similar to an oil filter that you would use for engine oil. the external filter was removed in later 8g years since it was pretty much overkill. you might want to see if you have that external one (doubt it) since the one thats showing up in the parts computer could be the internal one. the internal one doesn't have to be changed.

Don't use Mobil 1 tranny fluid. It is the incorrect type. Search around, I am pretty sure this has been discussed.
