    KYB GR2 with Coilover problem

    Guyz,

I 'lined up' my coilovers onto the KYB GR2's to see how they will look prior to install.

I notice that the GR2's have a 'lip/ridge' about 2 inches before the base of the strut where the spring perch is.

The 'sleeve' of my coilover does not slide all the way down to the spring perch...... it jams/stops at this lip/ridge.

IS THIS SUPPOSED TO BE LIKE THIS?

Or must the coilover sleeve slide ALL the way down to the spring perch?

Please advise me before I attempt this install.

The "sleeve" should sit solid on the strut perch. the coil should fit solid to the perches on the sleeve. That lip you speak of should not interfere unless you are actually speaking of the strut perch. It's harder to explain than I thought...
Basically the only thing you should need to modify for a correct fit is the either the strut mount (unlikely) or the bump stop (cut it in half). If we had a visual example I could explain better.

    What kind of coil-overs?

Well, on my old setup we had to cut the spring perch off the strut to get the coilover sleeve low enough on the strut housing to drop it. It wasn't too hard to cut and grind them off but it meant never going back to springs.
