    problems with coilovers

i tried to have a set of ground controls installed today at a shop and the guys there couldn't do it because of the steel ring and rubber insulator not staying together. anyone know what im talking about? also the 2 piece adjuster didnt fit on the rears. it says to knock of the spring perches but in the instructions it shows to mount with the perches still on. im confused.

this is how the 2 piece adjuster looks

and this is how it is suppose to sit on the perch; but it wont go all the way down. it sits about an inch or two above that.

If I remember correcty when I installed mine I had to shave the top of the factory struts to get them to go all the way down..on the fronts.. the rears went on pretty easy.
On mine the bottom wasnt cut away like in your picture.. mine sits flush..

Are you using KYB AGX? Or stock?

And as far as the steel ring and the cap staying together.. they will once the cars weight is on it.. just line them up and then lower the car from the jacks.. you may have to hit a few bumps.. or raise it back up to align it..then lower it.

I didnt have a brand new kit. I bought mine used (thanks LAZ) and was missing some of the hardware, so I called Ground Control and ordered missing pieces and they also faxed me the Eclipse/Galant install instructions and I went from there..

im using kyb agx. they started with the back so i dont know about the front. the guy at the shop showed it to me and it wouldn't go all the way down and sit flush like u say. he was also worrid about the steel ring and insulator not staying in place if i hit a bump so he didnt want to install them for me to go back there and have him fix it. we tried calling ground control that day but they were closed. have u had any problems with the ring moving around or anything since the install?

Nope.. once the weight of the car is on it.. its not gonna move.. just when you life your ride to lower or raise it ,make sure its lined up..

But as far as going all the way down.. also make sure its not upside down.. cause that will also do it also there is a ring inside the sleeve that will catch on the top of the strut so it wont go all the way down..
, when I first installed my rears (with the help of onlyphses) we got it off of the jack and the rear was RAISED like 3 inches.. so we had to re-do it over again..

    check some of these pics..
