A strut mounts the same as A-frame?

Took the the car to the shop today to get new struts installed, and the mechanic said something about the A-frame being rusted on so tight that they could'nt get it off (my car is from Buffalo so the underbody is rusted in a lot of places) to replace the struts. He said I would probablly have to go to the dealership or some front end specialist to get them removed.

I was looking at some car part sites for the part and noticed they all had strut mounts listed but not A-frames just wondering if this is the same part?

Im guessin he's callin the Dampner Fork the A-frame...it is kinda shaped like an A...But thats the only part that you have to remove to take off the struts n spring, I duno how badly rusted yours could possibly be, but I would shoot some liquid wrench on the bolts let it sit a bit and then use a breaker bar and pryem loose. I would think a good impact wrench would break them loose.

A mechanic told you they couldn't remove em? F that.

Like Rob said... PB Blaster and a breaker bar and they'll be off in 2 seconds.

REMEMBER, a breaker bar is your best friend.

Amen...very true. My 96 is from Virginia and it had some rusty spots...and A strut forks were a lil rusted, so I replaced them from my 95. PB Blaster and a breaker bar...and life suddenly just got easier. 8)
