Unless you go with aftermarket headers like RIPP, yes, you will have a fitment problem. 4 actually - all noted above - the flange at the cat, the bung for the O2. the 1.5" extra length, and the hanger location on the resonator pipe. Sucks man - wish Mitsu had kept the Cali and Fed specs more alike...

LOL - dude, that will be bad! You'll have to undo it all - add extra length, plug the O2 bung and re-orientate the flange!

Well, here is my next project...

I'm gonna build a test pipe, that will replace the cat and then bolt on after the resonator pipe...this will not have a resonator in it at all and will allow for me to remove the cat (or replace it) with only 4 bolts....

This will also allow for full use of the headers if I get em!!

Test pipe idea sounds good... keep us updated on that!

I finally started on removing stock and installing the dynomax last night. Already had the RIPP Header and mid-pipe with HFC off for another project so I went ahead and removed the rest. Only had a problem with 1 bolt on the over-axle connection - my impact gun striped the head of a bolt so I end up cutting it out. No biggie there.

There is only *1* fitment issue for Cali specs that I can now note - the hanger for the resonator pipe on the dynomax kit is *on the wrong side*. It needs to be on the driver's side but is on the passenger side, as you hang it. I don't think this will be a problem though, b/c the actual hanger is bolted under the car (2 bolts) and looks like it could be removed and swtiched around. I'll know for sure tonight or tomorrow when I finish the install...

Anyone else got and installed the dynomax system??? I thought there were more than 3 galants in the buy...

I'm bringing this back, becuase it's finally happened. I ordered a set of RIPP headers and now will have to do MORE fabrication to get this to fit my exhaust system...lol. Oh well, nothing is perfect. Anyone know if I can order the resonator part from an eclipse cat back system to replace the current resonator that I modified? I'm not sure where the 10" of difference in the Eclipse and Galant systems is on a cat...

Otherwise I think I'll have to weld 1 1/2 inches back onto my resonator pipe and put on a new flange. lol

what is the website that ya'll went through to get the cat back

Good luck, I dont think they're made any more. We set up a group buy for production of these way back. Just get an eclipse cat back and have it modified to fit your galant...easiest thing to do, only involves adding 10 inches of straight pipe.

You can walk into Advanced Auto and special order them. I got mine from summit racing a few months ago.

They are all over the place.
