can you swap a auto for a five speed in the 4cyl model if what are the things that ill need as far as parts and what car do i get a tranny from

brake pedal (brake pedal is smaller on a 5 speed car)

clutch slave cylinder

starter (not sure if 5 speed starter is different from auto, check mitsu part#'s to double check)

factory throw out bearing

All fluid lines for clutch master + slave cylinders
Manual eclipse GT ECU

I dont think you need the ECU. VTECKiller did the swap without touching the electronics.

he also has a 4 cyl....that post was obviously for a 6 since he said v6

as far as i kno the 6 does need the ecu...but vtec may need to confirm this

or u could just search on www.eclipseforums.org

i kno for a fact the 4cly doesnt...im starting that swap tonite

I thought for sure you needed to swap the ecu's. I just might put a little more research here and do the swap myself....

from my "limited research" only the v6's need the ecu swap...2 members have done the 4cly swap with out it....

and someone above said sumthin about a "GT" transmission...so thats why i started talkin about v6's (that is the 6cly model of the 3g eclipse btw :? )

down to the gear lub i just bout i spent right @ 1k including all parts, gettin the flywheel resurfaced, short shifter, shit knob, gear lube, oil and filter for an oil change, and brake cleaner ( so needles to say its well under 1k...probly mid 9, so around 950
