Can you tell a V-6 from the rear?

Is there any way to tell a V-6 from the rear? I know an LS or GTZ badge would be a giveaway, but is there any other way. Different muffler, maybe?

not that i know of, mostly the things that pop out to me is the V6 badges on the sides, and sometimes the GTZ style rims. other than that the emblem on the back is usually the indicator

i do know how you can tell a DE from the other models

the DE doesn't have fog lights, it has kind of a black trim (black mirrors, black door lining)

if you can hear the exhaust and you pretty much can tell the difference between 4banger and 4+ sounds, you can tell.

from the rear, assuming it's all stock still, you can only tell the GTZ is a v6 for all years of USDM 8G. from 1999-2001, the LS was a V6 only, but in 2002-2004 they started offeting the LS in i4 as well. so the only for sure v6 in LS form were the 1999-2001, you can tell the difference by the tail lights (3 stripe reverse = 1999-2001, big vertical reverse = 2002-2004). the ES came in both i4 and v6 and are identical from the rear. the DE was only available in i4.

If every thing is stock, you can tell by the exaust pipe (little bigger on a V6) and the tires are bit wider too.

sorry, that's wrong. the tailpipes are identical and you could buy the ES i4 premium and LS i4 w/ alloy wheels (GTZ wheels). the only way to tell for sure from looking at it from the rear was the GTZ badge and the 99-01 LS badge althought the majority of V6's out there are ESV6's. i have a '99 ESV6 debadged rear w/ a 5" tip and JDM tail lights and an '02 OEM rear bumper, so you really couldn't tell from the back if it was an i4 or V6... that is until i turn the engine on.

Yeah, what Reelax said!! For the most part you can't tell us 6ers from the 4 bangers, especially from the rear. And definately if any kind of modding/shaving has taken place. But really the only way to tell the difference, is from the side. That's because, no matter what has been done cosmeticaly to the car, the V6 always has 4 wheel disc brakes.
