    Mitsu Dealership and Turbos

my friend mentioned something to me about buying a turbo kit from Mitsubishi and having it installed at the dealership...does anyone know if this is a possibility or if it has been done with someone's car here?

well. uhm. mitsu doesn't make a turbo kit for the galant. so its not one of them things that all dealers would do.

i know some dealers will install aftermarket parts if you buy from them. reelax got his injen cai installed by the dealer.

but yea, im guessing finding a dealer that will sell you an aftermarket turbo kit, install it, and warranty the work will be close to impossible.

i agree. with the exception of the TRD program with toyota, im not aware of any dealrship that would do this. and if you were lucky enough to find one that would, they would charge you an arm and a leg.

Point is, Mitsubishi wont do that...heck, they will void your warantee if you autoX in your evo. They're a bunch of stuck up, half whit, scruffy looking, nerf herders.

I think his buddy worked there and that's how it was done, not an authorized mitsu install.

Mitsubishi will do whatever you pay them to do, but they WILL:

    1. Void your warranty in the process.
    2. Charge you an huge fee for the work performed.

in regards to the fact that they dont make a turbo kit for the galant, duh, i mean't buying an eclipse turbo because i figured that mitsu made kits for that...but yea the people at the mitsu dealership are such dicks, i hate them...i've taken my car in for warrantee work 3 times since july and all i've done is had a hard time.

    thanks for the comments though

you sound so coy and smug, yet are so wrong. mitsu does not make turbo kits, for anything, period. they havent even made a turbo eclipse since 1999.

you would have to piece together your own setup, or look into FI Autosports and their turbo kits, but they are pricey.

ah yes and you sound so intelligent as well, but note the insertion of the word FIGURED. it was obvious to me that there is no kit made specifically for the galant, but i ASSUMED that since so many aftermarket parts (engine-wise) are interchangeable with the 3g eclipse and the 8g galant, that mistubishi might have gotten their act together and designed a kit.

unfortunately, i am wrong, and it's probably a good thing that i didn't completely and openly state that THERE IS A TURBO KIT. therefor you misinterpreted my post and replied incorrectly.

and i know that the last turbo eclipse was the '99 GST and GSX.

My Mitsubishi dealership will install anything you want. I've talked to the owner a bunch of times and he keeps telling me I need to get a turbo or SDS and that he would install it. He even tried to talk my Father into getting a turbo installed on his Outlander or atleast an intake. The last time I was there, they had just installed some headers on a 3G Eclipse. I forgot how much the owner said he charged, but it was alot. I'm not sure about warranties either. I always bring my car to the dealer to get inspected because they don't put my car on the dyno in fear of breaking my body kit. Instead, they just put the emissions thing in the tailpipe and rev the car.

when you say alot...can you give me a ballpark range? i'm thinking of a little over 3 for the kit itself...and then...a shitload for install...

Well, the headers were supplied and it was a V6 which is alot harder to install then on an I4... I believe they charged almost $600. When/if I get headers, I will install them myself, even if it takes me a whole weekend to do it.

. What 3k for a turbo kit can you say rip off, And to clear this up i worked for a mitsu dealership in Baltimore, they will install any damn thing you want, Depending on the part some may void your warranty some may not, it depends, They will charge you out the ASS for labor time, A turbo kit is a very easy install its not easy to mess up, there is little or no machine work besides tapping oil pan and filter housing for feed and return lines unless you run water or alky, its very basic just make sure you know what a turbo does and how it works and what you need to support it, ( 9 out of 10 people dont know how it works or what it even does) they watch way to much fast and homofurious, forget all that crap they fed you forced induction is no joke, the turbo itself is basic, tuning a turbocharged engine is what separates the men from the ladies i offer installs and tuning if interested
