    Leather Wrap Steering Wheel

Does anyone here (manybrews?) know how to take off a 8G Steering wheel and put it on another 8G. The reason I am asking is because for some strange reason my 2002 didn't come with the leather wrapped wheel and I wanna put my old one on my new one. Is it hard to do??

How did you get the old one off or you didn't and just asking? I remember seeing to giant torx screws in back or sides of the steering wheel but not sure. Let me check my manual to see if there are specific instructions. One thing I do know is that you are supposed to disconnect the battery for at least 30 seconds before messing with SRS stuff like removing the steering wheel airbag. Will let you know if I find the info.

    UPDATE:
Sorry, no instructions. Just goes from removal of the airbag to using the special Steering Wheel Puller tool MB99083 to remove this one nut in the center of the steering wheel. Hope manybrews has the answer.

    its simple.

    first, unplug battery.
    second, unscrew airbag.
    3rd, remove airbag.
4th, remove 17 mm nut retaining the steering wheel.

now, youre SUPPOST to use a steering wheel puller here, but in reality you can usually just wiggle the wheel off the shaft.

HOWEVER.. there is no master spline of anykind. you MUST install the steering wheel in the same location EXACTLY, or it will appear to be off center when your driving.

also, (and this is REALLY important), you must be sure to have the clock spring in dead center (along with the tires) before you reinstall the wheel. if you accidently turn the clock spring one turn (or more) right or left, it WILL break during use, rendering your airbag worthless, and causing the SRS light to come on.
