    Is this statement true?

"the 6G72 transmission is the same as that of the Lancer Evo"

We share the same tranny (save for the clutch obviously)?

the evo tranny is all wheel drive.
    it is a manual.
also the manual has triple cone synchros in first gear, double cone in second and third.
    it is geared differently,
basically, the evo viii tranny is the best tranny ever built by mitsu.
and probably the ONLY good one.

    so your statement is incorrect

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't thinking about throwing an AWD tranny into my FWD ca. Though I just found it intresting that the original poster claimed that the EVO tranny is the same as the V6s manual. Makes me wonder where you he would have thought such a thing, when as you point out, there are stark differances.

And yes I know the Evo is a V4.

is it possible that he meant that the EVO tranny and the VR-4 (2.5L TT v6) 5speed manual are the same? if that was the case, it may save someone like Mante some $$$ if he ever needs one

Those guys on club 3g are idiots. No an Evo tranny and a v6 eclipse tranny are nothing alike. And I highly highly doubt that the 8gvr4 engine shares the same transmission as the Evo as well...

THANK YOU! That is by far, all I needed to know. I have long suspected those 3G guys of being idiots AS WELL as assholes.

Well it could be true if the Evo was fwd. Now an evo may bolt up to the 6g72 but its still awd and that is highly unlikely that it will bolt up. Find a picture of the bellhousings of each tranny and you will know.
