how much will that cost and what year Outlander? it sounds like a good idea to do, will it just fit on without any changes needed to be made

I've got a 4cyl. G and reading all this Im starting to get paranoid over my manifold, hasnt broken yet but hell it sounds like it might be a ticking time bomb.

thanks for that link! it looks pretty straight forward, I know a guy who fixes wrecked cars, he should be able to get me those parts cheap and I'll have him do the work.

I'll probably wait until my intake breaks first, that way I have a valid reason to do it, and then my dad wont/cant yell at me for whatever it is he could possibly yell at me for.

just a question, as a preventitive measure, what if I put JB weld around the intake manifold before it breaks to help reinforce it, would that work? or is it just a waste of JB weld.

You can add me to the list of completely stock cracked intake manifolds. Went to the dealer to get a new one and he told they no longer make the manifold that came on my car. He went on to inform me mitsu has changed part numbers for the 8g and the new new part number cross references the 03 outlander intake manifold. Then he admitted there are currently 54 on backorder in their ATL distribution center, however he said there are no TSBs or recalls on this part. Obviously Mitsu know this was poor design hence the change in the part number, but more than likely they will never admit this.

well its been a couple of months and so far everything is good . mine cracked in the groove near the throthle body. I had the entire groove filled so its really more sturdy,

no idea what he used though but he didnt just repair it, by filling that groove up the intake will never crack THERE again he guaranteed it,

total cost for the repairs was 40 $ i think maybe less

As long as you replace your motor mounts on time, you will be ok. Mine cracked at 158K and that's because my front and rear mounts went bad and I ignored it, while my engine was rocking back and forth. Replaced the mounts and bought a used intake manifold, no problems since.
To answer your question though, I think you need 2003 Outlander manifold.

You paid 500 bucks for an intake manifold??? My god, you got raped without any vaseline. I paid 100 and did the work myself, not hard but I had to take off and put back alot of crap.

Reason it cracks is due to bad motor mounts that allow the rocking back and forth. I didn't have an aftermarket intake on mine when it broke but I did have the front an drear mounts in really bad shape and every time I would take my foot of the gas on the highway, the car would feel like downshifting. A far as the outlander intake, you need one from a 2003 outlander, I believe.
