And the only time I had a tbelt failed on a car I did the belt job, was the 1 time I actualy used the mitsu tools... go figure..odly head wasnt damaged at all..and it skipped like 8 teeth pure luck..

are the process for changing the timing on a SOHC is the same as the DOHC?

a bit different for the DOHC. Refer to the vfaq for DOHC.

Not sure which one is more like the GS. I think the only difference between the 1g and 2g is which way you turn the tensioner pulley to tighten the tension on the belt.

so what tools did you used other than the Mitsu ones?

GS is identical to the 2g procedure.
