Best way to ship rims with tires?

What is the best way to ship rims with the tires already on them?

I'm sure it would be a pain-in-the-a$$ to find big enough boxes, so I've read somewhere that you can just put some cardboard to cover up the sides of the wheel then ship it that way - it that kosher?

i've seen people ship rims without anything. just put the shipping label on the wheel itself and let it go.

but yea carboard on the face of the wheel would protect it. then just wrap it with plastic or some tape and you should be good to go.

if you are gonna get it insured you might want to contact your shipper to see if just the cardboard is adequate enough to be insured.

Wrap them in saran wrap first before you ship them, then put 2 boxes on the side, then tape them up, then put them in a wheel/tire box. FedEx is the way to go, UPS is very expensive.

Yup, I recieve and ship wheels like that all the time.

Call a box store, they have boxes specifically made for tires...no kidding. My friend at church works for a box company designing boxes, I should look into seeing if we can buy them if you guys want.
