    fattest rims n tires on a 8g?

I have 17x7.5 and i love the look of wider wheels, i heard someone with 18x8 or 8.5 i think and was wondering how wide of a wheel can u get on a 8g and what size tire? i have 17x7.5 with 215/45 tires n i usta have a 17x7 with 225/45. What offset?

There is no straight answer to your question. It all depends on the offset of the wheel and how much you are dropped. Plus every Galant will react to a drop differently with regards to how much it actually drops and how much the camber is off, if at all.

My advice is to not go any wider than 8" with an offset no higher than +45mm and no lower than +38mm. Of course depending on the drop, you might have to roll the rear fenders. And I'm not sure, but a +45mm offset with a wide wheel might be too close to the suspension and will rub. With an 18" wheel, stick with 225/40 tires and with a 17" wheel stick with 225/45.

Yeah, Reelax has 19"x8.5" with a +48mm offset but he had to almost completely cut out his rear fender wells. He also has camber kits installed on all four corners, which if he didn't, I'm pretty sure the tires would be rubbing the suspension on bumps and stuff.. maybe not though.

If you don't want to do alot of work and don't want to spend alot of money take DANJ's advice.

im pushing 8.5" wheels with 235/40/18 tires. a lil bit bigger than what most of you guys are running. the 235's raise the car up and inch.

to this date i don't have any rubbing problems. but the thing is, i have coilovers so i can drop it as low or as high as i want.

you shouldn't rub at stock height. so far in the front the car is lowered 1.5" and no rubbing. the rear is stock. haven't slapped on the coilovers back there yet but by just looking i know i can't drop it too low without rubbing on something. but yea the back is dropped like maybe half an inch with all the stuff i have in the back.

unless u get camber kits and cut your rear wheel wells out, u will rub. stick w/ 225/40zr18 abd 18x7.5 +45.

btw, CALI is running 19x8 +36mm 235/35zr19, but he has fender flares.

I'm glad you posted those specs. I was looking at getting a set of 19x8 +35mm wheels, but sounds like they would stick out too far without having flares.

Maybe this is a stupid question, but why the heck do 235s raise your car up an inch?? This makes no sense to me.

235/45/18 = 235 mm tread width, 45% is the aspect ratio (ratio of sidewall height to tread with in this case the sidewall height is 45% of the tread width), 18 is the rim size that will fit the tire

its not up an inch (but its kinda close like a half inch almost or something like that) you'd be able to notice it though.

i'm running 225/40/18 on stock suspention, with 8.5" wheels, i rub sometimes going down the highway on bigger bumps, and i always rub with mre than 2 people in the car, plus the 2 subs which weigh in at about 60lbs each plus the 1" thick box, with the car just sitting there no one in it it looks like the assend is dropped, there is NO wheel gap what so ever

I'm running 8.5x18 on 225/40 meat as well. I have GC coilovers and am slammed all around. I have minimal rubbing on some bumps especially at highway speeds. I rolled my rears and am tucking tire out back and have no rubbing issues at all. Its just in front where my minimal rubbing takes place.

That reminds me to roll my fronts as well...

    Rims

I just decided to keep my 02 galant and begin the hooking up process and began with the shoes. I put some 18 x 7.5's on them and its looks good. It raised the car a bit but with new lowering kits they should look even better. I am new here and picking up a wealth of knowledge from all of ya'll on here. Great site....

Here is what the rims look like

My next step is probably going to be some tail lights and a wing. My car is that pearl white so I think I am going to throw some silver tints and paint that calipers in silver too. I'll post pics soon.

so if i was looking at getting 19X8.5 HP Racing wheels, with 225/35/r19, would i have any trouble? i haave Tein STech drop but i might be getting coilovers soon to drop some more. I already have the rear fenders rolled. front fenders rolled themselves with my 18s.. (must have badoffset, but dont even know since they were my bros wheels and he never asked). neways, i also have camber kit in the rear. my rear would stay AS IS and the front would drop more. so, what if there is no information on the offset? which offset should i go with?!?! +48mm??

w/ 19x8.5 +48mm you will need camber kits to avoid rubbing on the inside and rolling fenders wont do it... you need to cut them almost completely out. other than that you should b good. but the safer bet would b to run 19x8 +42mm to +48mm. my wheels ocasionally touch my TEIN SS-P's in the rear and that could get expensive if they cut through.

Even with a camber kit, I can't see rims that are 8.5" wide with a +48mm offset going on without rubbing the suspension. You'd probably need a +45mm offset or lower to avoid the suspension, but then you'd be rubbing the fenders, and I doubt having them rolled already will help.
