    home-made cold air intake for 7G V6????????

    guys, i need your help.

last friday night, on my way home, i ran into a dog while i was going about 100kmh. i didn't try to swerve anymore as it might cause an accident

when i get home, i see that i broke my front passenger side fog lamp on my galant 7g v6.

instead of getting a new fog lamp, i am thinking of doing the following:

use the money for the fog lamp for a k&n drop-in filter and then fabricate a home-made cold air intake from the hole where the passenger side fog lamp should be into my air-box (they are on the same side, just need a few feet of flexible tubing).

what are your opinions on this plan?

yup, the dog and i were both on the losing end of this situation.

stupid owners of the dog should have kept him tied up or in a cage.

that sounds like a good plan, people have been doing that for years now.

other things you can do is to use a cone filter instead of the drop in filter. depending on the size of filter you choose, you might get a much bigger filtering surface with the cone filter opposed to the panel drop in filter.

i don't know if you know rex but he's a member here (vr6) from the PI also and he has a short ram with a cold air box that is made from aluminum. he says from the butt dyno (thats all that matters right??) he has seen an improvement in peformance with the cold air box. search around tgc and you'll see pics of his ride floating around somewhere.

thanks guys, i posted this inquiry also on mymitsuph.com

the common arguements against it are debris and water coming in. it tends to flood a bit in the Philippines and the roads aren't the cleanest in the world

the filter is gonna be up high where the orignal location is gonna be right? i mean if the water is high enough to touch the filter in the oem location, i don't think you should be driving. and yea, the debris don't hurt the filter, the debris has to go into the pipe and then work its way up the pipe and to the filter where if it does make it there, it would stop. cuz thats what filters do.

wOW the k&n is really expensive there in the philippines. it costs maybe half that amount here in the US
