    7g Stainless Steel Brake Lines installed on the GS

    brakes have a more positive feel, and don't have any give after the pads hit the rotors(spongyness or springiness) i can actually feel the pads bite harder. and stopping seems to have improved(less effort) although i haven't had the chance to cycle the abs or do any 60 to 0 tests. I actually expected them to give me a harsh stock pedal that felt like a brick. but until the pads touch down, its a smooth as it ever was.
    but the harder i press the pedal, the harder the brakes bite, it isn't like the stock lines where you reach the limit to how hard the brakes clamp down(short of putting every ounce of might you have into it) much less pedal effort.
    i wanted to replace my dirty stock fluid with some motul high boilig point fluid, but ts just so damn expensive.
    so i went with some valvoline sythetic dot 4 or higher. it has a dry boiling point of 550, much higher than your typical DOT 4. to give the brakes a little more consitancy under extreme conditions. pedal feels great.

    need to paint my rear calipers.
    don't know how else to say it i can really feel a difference in stopping power. maybe tonight i'll take the toolbox out of my trunk and give it a hard 45-0 and let my ass tell me if it got better. i've been anxious to feel the abs now that they are on, cause the stainless lines and high temp brake fluid are supposed to allow your abs to cycle faster, thereby increasing its resolution.
    roads are a little slick from the rain tonight so its a good time to give em a whirl

    whirl 'em, baby!! Whirl 'em! Looks good, maybe i'll have to add those to my brakes. oh got some pics of what the five spoke chrome GST wheels look like on a Galant, well kinda... i bought my cousins wheels for her 99 gst, and put them on my ride. but it's at the shop getting body work and painted.

    okay the results are in, though i have not conducted an official test to see how much stoipping distance i shed with these, (reading any magazine write up on stainless lines will give you an idea) i can say that the car seems top stop so much quicker, especially under panic braking situations.
    when you are mashing down the pedal as hard as possible.
    I slammed on the brakes going about 50 mph.
    and all i heard was one quick chirp of the tires locking up and the ABS took over.
    only thing is, altough i knew the abs was cycling, the pedal no longer pulses. I was astonished. It now stops on a dime and the ABS is more effective than ever.
    I know that there are few 7th gen owners with ABS, but these lines will definatly give you better stopping power, and possibly offset brake fade with the right pads.
    Any of the 8th gen owners with abs, you should get these lines asap. what it does for the ABS is heavenly. I feel much more confident during aggressive driving and everyday traffic commutes.

    It seems to me that so many people in these forums are worried about getting their cars to be so fast. But i wouldn't worry about making them quick. I would WORRY about being able to protect your investment from bad drivers, and yourself when you are driving outside your safety threshold.
    Stopping is much more important than going in my book.
    Now i feel i have provided my car with balance.
    Lots of power,
    precise handling
    Much responsiveness
    Control beyond all of the above.

    Power is fun and thrilling
    but safety is key.

    i had abs brakes till i destroyed the two front sensors having to take the knuckle off so i could get the hub assembly pressed out. guess i'll look into geting those replaced,. The dealer said they were 250 a piece to replace... don't think so.

    okay I just did put a set of stainless lines on my dad's diamante. he now has the same setup as me, crossed and slotted rotors w/ axxis ultimate ceramic pads and stainless steel lines with synthetic DOT4 fluid.

    and once again the stainless lines make stopping power unbelievable. as soon as the pads make contact the brakes begin to bite. the pedal is harder now which makes stopping effortless and instant.
    Once againas far as the ABS goes it cycles so much faster and you can't even feel the pedal pulse when the ABS is engaged!

    I cannot emphasize how big a difference these make. before this setup, (even with his huge dual piston calipers and large front rotors) his car didn't have enough stopping power and he was going through pads every 6 months and rotors every year at least.
    Every single galant owner of any gen needs these
    probably the best thing i ever did for my brakes.

    okay my rant is over now

    oh and btw the install with only two jackstands to use took about 20 minutes. then about another 20-25 to bleed the system. and it was so very easy.
    if i had four jackstands the whole proccess woiuld take about 40 minutes cause i wouldn't have to keep jacking up the front and rear of the car and putting wheels on.

    I was just wondering why you used eclipse lines? Don't they make ss brake lines specifically for our cars?

    I have Technafit SS lines that I got from RaceConcepts for around $80. Looks almost the same as those ones there...I'm not 100% sure though. Easy install, as long as you have someone to help you bleed them.

    well all the ones i found said specifically not for DOHC galants. plus they were all at least 150 dollars.
    I got these teflon lines with a clear pvc coating to preotect from rust and blue anodized fittings for 75 shipped. thats why. they are exactly the same length fittings and all.

    Cool. I just got mine in. They are the goodridge ss brake lines and the website said for a 94-98 galant, but the package says 94-98 eclipse. I called and asked if these were the correct lines for my car and they said the eclipse and the galant brake lines are the same.

    You learn something new everyday.
