it you access the PCM for trans codes, do NOT expect them to be accurate.
you MUST access the TCM for the correct codes. the PCM only gives a few totally general trans codes, and they are not usually anywhere near the actual fault..
Went for a ride to grab a bite to eat and all of a suddn the check engine light come on. Had it scanned at Tires Plus car center & was told it's a code P0740 (Torque converter clutch system malfunction). They didn't have anyone there that could really take a look at it & told me to take it to a transmission place they recommended (not to sure about that). Does this mean my torque converter is bad & needs to be replaced? Or the transmission about to go out? They told me it could also be loose wiring, bad PCM, other sensors, etc. The car runs fine and changes gears okay. The guy there told me to run it in drive (3) to ensure fluid gets to the tranny between 3rd and 4th gear and keep it cool. Anyone have any suggestions. Holla back!
