Help with buying an 89-91 Galant!!!!! - Australia

    Gday,
I'm looking at buying a Galant for my first car.
I have had a look at a '91 HH SE, done 270000km's ($2800) and a '89 HG SE, done 200000km's with some panel damage ($4500).

I have read reviews etc on the car and found that it is a good alround car.
I would really like to know what the difference is between the HH and the HG and the SE, GSR, VR-4. Are there any other models in Aus? eg. (GS, GSX, GTi etc).?????????

Is there a website avaliable that can give me all this information?
What is the average price for a good condidtion Galant in Australia?
    Thanks

your 3 best choices are the following

    GSR - Hatch / FWD N/A Tuned 4Cylinder 2.0
    VR4 - Sedan / 4WD Turbo 4 Cylinder 2.0
    ZR4 - Hatch / 4WD Turbo 4 Cylinder 2.0

those the 3 best choices i have GSR , undergoing custom body work at the moment i love my Gbanger

the k's r pretty damn high on those cars, u'd be up for an engine recon or engine swap.
    dunno bout a zr4 :?

SE=2.0L SOHC FWD hatch, same gizmos and stuff as the other 2
GSR=2.0L DOHC FWD hatch, body kit, may have electronic suspension (which will b the first thing 2 go on it)
VR4=2.0L DOHC AWD sedan Turbo, intercooler, etc, same interior as other 2

ok i checked www.autotrader.com.au, checked NSW/VIC. Theres 10 ads for galants.

    Standout:

Mitsubishi Galant HJ SE 1993 2.0L automatic, 188000kms, 11 month rego, log books, UYR-546, very good condition $5300 CROYDON PARK 02-9716 5330.

yes, its only the SE model, but the 93 model galants arent very common! not as much as the 89-91 models. if u can stretch ur budget to it, i'd say go for this one. and it looks pretty nice 2
there r others advertised, but they dont have pics, so i cant say a yay or nay!

    thanks fellas

thanks for that, i think i'll go for an SE or a GSR.
Are all the models 16 Valve?

Thanks for that reference, but i'd rather a manual

Here's a GSR in Brunswick that's had a replacement engine put in and only done 60,000km's ($4500). WHat do u think?

Looks alright but i would be inclined to go for a Jap Import version of the Vr4 ( i mean the only VR4's are Jap imports anyway).

yeah but a vr4 is like $8000 min, and as he is referring to it as a first car, i'm guessing he's probly povo!

not sure if an se is 16valve lol i have one but dont know
yeah the car looks good, dunno how long is left in the engine. colour's good (dunno if u've seen the baby poo brown colour, but damn i hate it!)

price is a lil steep, would hafta b in good nick 4 that price.
