RIPP MODS TO BACK UP AFTERMARKET SUPPORT FOR 9G!

I spoke with a rep. at RIPP MODS and asked about any plans on developing a supercharger drive system for the 6G75 engine found in the new Eclipse as well as the 9G, and he stated that the product is already in the works. They are awaiting a unit from Mitsu USA and will begin R&D ASAP... I personally cannot wait to see huge results from them. They have produced HUGE power from the 6g72 engine so imagine what this new beast of an engine will produce...

for more info, please contact RIPP MODS at www.rippmods.com

Awesome, i was already planning on supercharging mine once my warranty is about done (that'll be in about 4 1/2 years, and i'm broke right now anyway). I bet a sc could turn a 9g into a mid-12 second car 8)

Yeah, the 6G72 hasnt been very responsive to the SDS, and if rumors are true, Ross blew his engine with their "safe" 18lbs of splooge. I'd say go with a turbo set up, it's relaible and effective. As for turboing the 9g, I'd say within 3 years a reliable turbo setup will be developed, with some small independent kits coming and and dying over the next 2 years. Remember, adding a SDS at moderately safe boost is not going to put you in the 12s, you're gonna need alot of boost, LSD, and will likely need to strip everything but the seat and steering wheel from the car.

yea and its not going happen on a stock motor....so u'll have to cross your fingers that some pistons companies start making some goodies....sorry to burst you 2F2F dreams

Yeah, hopefully some companies will start making high quality parts eventually. I think a turbo would be a better fit for the car anyway, since it already has quite a bit of low rpm torque. Like i said i'm not thinking about doing any of this for like 5+ years so by then i'm hoping for some aftermarket support (you can always hope :/). And even then, i'll wait till some other people do it to see what kind of results/reliabilty they get from it.

This is all assuming there is support for the car, which isn't looking good atm, and they dont seem to be selling too quick, ive hardly seen any of them on the road.

I think before companies get into the aftermarket for this car, more people actually have to start buying them...its gonna be tough since I think Mitsu marketed this car at the 30+ family market...

A RIPP SDS system would be nice for the 9G, but like others have said on this post, is there really a market for it? How many 9G members do we actually have? Out of those few how many are actually going to buy the SDS system? I don't see RIPP making it, maybe I'm wrong. Response to the 8G SDS system was pretty weak. The Eclipse owners on the other hand were snapping them up like hotcakes. Don't get me wrong I'm all for it, I'm kind of curious what kind of numbers a 9G would put out. But in terms of profitability, what's the point in making it if only 3 people are going to purchase it.

Remeber now, that the 4G eclipse and the 9G Galant share the same engine - the Ripp SDS kit, if made, would most likely be targeted toward the 4G eclipse crowd, with the Galant folks being an added bonus, so I'm sure that *something* will be out that the 9Gers can use.

Very true, I didn't think about that. So I guess we can expect to see a kit for the 9G sometime in the future then.

Well, when I spoke to the rep. He told me that they already developed a system for the 4g69 engine found in the lancer ralliart as well as the 4 cylinder 9G. they had two test mules, one being the lancer and another being a 9G galant from upstate New York... So there will definately have products for the 9G. its just a matter of time. they just have to wait approx. 5-6 months before anything is really said and done.

That is exactly what the rep. stated. Basically, they will market the kit towards the 4G eclipse, But they will also do R&D on the 9G for fitment and power and reliability as well. I just cannot wait to see results for this vehicle...

if any car would need it, it would definitely be the 4-cyl 9G...its heavy and its "upgraded" hp isn't quite on par with the competition in this class, IMHO...what's the torque figures for the 9G (both V6 and I4)?

well, they already have an SDS system for the 4G69 which is the engine found in the 4-cyl. 9G and were able to squeeze 200whp and 218wtq. which is pretty good, but still not enough to get this heavy car moving. On the positive side, however, Road Race Motorsports has a turbo kit designed for the same engine with results in 248whp and 262wtq. this turbo kit was designed for the Lancer Ralliart, so the only problem it would probably have would be fitment. but then again, I could be wrong...

The only thing we can really do is wait for performance mods to come out for 06 eclipse, both GT and RS, seeing as it shares the same engines as the 9G's
