    7gen vs 8gen tranny

alright im sure as u all know i want to make mine a 5 speed. The 3rd gen eclipse 5 speed trans. is hard to come by. So im wondering if the 7th gens tranny will fit on the 8th gen? Also im looking into geting pistons and rods and wondering if the 7ths gen bottom end is the the same as the 8th gens?

Why do you say the 3rd gen Eclipse transmission is hard to come by?
