Can someone post the steps to do this? For some reason I can't see them...

    Step one: Pop the hood

Step two: pull the negative battery cable off the battery terminal

Step three: wait a minute or two, or ten, or whatever

Step four: reinstall the cable back on the battery

Step five: start your car and hope for the best

    LOL

Seriously, if the condition that existed to turn on the CEL no longer exists at the moment you restart the car, the light won't come on. If it still does, then it needs to be done proper like and get it scanned. I never understood the reasoning behind clearing the light without using a scantool. If you repaired the fault, after five start/stop cycles, the light will go off on its own anyway. Scanners are cheap nowadays too. Plus, Autozone/Advanced Auto Parts will scan your car for you for free. But if you really need to clear the light, just undo the battery and wait a while, but you have to drive it for a good while to get the emissions monitors ready if you need to pass emissions. Sorry if I'm rambling on, I'm high on painkillers right now.

All you do is disconnect the negative battery cable for some time, I would say one minute but it could be up to thirty I don't know. But then you hook it back up and see if code comes back. I think one minute is fine, you can always drive to.any car auto parts place and have it erased for free.
