if you want to waste $150 for a POS intake, sure. dragon intakes are pure junk. it's just a metal pipe and crappy filter. build it yourself for a few dollars. plus they look retarded

Do what Peano said. It's the easiest way. Get a MAS adapter and put a K&N filter on the end of it and you'll have a much better intake than that weapon R, and for cheaper.

so I don't need a metal pipe or anything? just the MAS adapter and a K&N? sounds good, thanks for suggesting that. Why do they make intakes with the metal pipe if they are just useless? sorry to be a pain in the ass but i dont want to get the wrong stuff. could anyone possibly give me some links for the MAS adapter and a K&N thats good for the 97? thanks guys.

    its not that they're useless.
but lets look at the facts here.
250 for a injen or aem intake
(which is just a pipe and a filter)

    or 40 bucks
(for a pipe and a filter)

they are both going to sound the same and give the same level of performance.

if aem claims that they get 1 hp over the competitors intakes wtf cares.
you won't even feel 1hp. you won't feel 5 hp.

just make it yourself and be happy with the new healthy grunt and peppy sound your motor will make.

and if you want it to be a pretty color. paint it yourself.

damn $40 sounds a hell of a lot better than $150 I really dont care about color, i mean cmon its under the freaking hood . I really wanted it for a nice beefy sound to go along with my exhaust. but yeah, I just dont know exactly what to get and where. Any help is appreciated.

the mas adapter and K&N filter will give you a "ram air" or "short ram" intake setup. it's basically the shortest and easiest flowing intake, or at least that's the idea behind it.

with the extra pipe, you will achieve a "cold air" intake. by placing the intake filter further from the engine, it will draw in colder air. colder air is denser, sounds cooler, etc. its up to you

I'll probably go with the cold air setup but I still dont know exactly what to get! what about those integra GSR kits? are those any good? I'm looking on ebay and finding some pretty cheap ones but I dont know which one to get since the links are so old in the tutorial.

  13. #13
If you want a CAI read the tutorial above. It gives you instructions on what you need. You can find all kinds of cheap knock off CAI for the Civic/integra. Get one of those and toss the filter and put a K&N on it. I got my kit on ebay for about $14. Intake pipe is all the same, just get a good filter hook it up and enjoy the sound of your engine screaming at WOT

heres a few I saw on ebay and was wondering if they fit.

#3 only has one pipe. I guess you need 2 like in #1 and #2. the bends in the pipes look different in the link for the LS/RS as compared to the GSR. the LS/RS has an L bent pipe and an S bent pipe while the GSR has 2 S bent pipes. I'm confused a bit here. do I need to get a LS/RS kit or a GSR kit? I want whatever fits in the best. thanks

hopefully you bought a 4" filter and adapter cause they flow more than the 3" filter and adaptor. but don't sweat if you didn't

with the cold air setup, i do prefer the 3" adaptor instead of the big 4.5" adaptor.

with a 3" adaptor you can mount the MAS up in the engine bay while with the 4.5" you have to mount it with the filter, or in other words at the end of the CAI where its more prone to water and other road debris

yeah I got the 3" adapter. Thats what I saw in the tutorial so I went with that. Can't wait to get this thing and hopefully make it fit correctly. Thanks for the help everyone.

ok guys, finally got all my stuff. I looked under the hood to see how it would fit and it seems like it wont. I know I have to use the pipe with the thing sticking out of it for the tube.....i have no idea what its for but i'm guessing thats the one that needs to be there. It also came with what it looks like to be mounts and I guess I gotta drill into the pipe. Seems like its gonna be a short ram intake cuz I have no idea where it would go to make it a CAI. Heres a pic of what I got, maybe you guys can tell me where to cut if you have knowledge of the shape of how the pipes supposed to be. Thanks

Still havent got the time to install this thing but I have a query. I'm looking at the MAS and its oval shaped. Just wondering where it goes in the line of the pipe and how if its oval? Looks like its gonna be a short ram instead of a CAI cuz I have no idea how it would be a CAI.
