    OIL LIGHT?...

i have a question regarding my 2000 ES,
about 10,000 miles ago, right after an oil change, (i have always done the oil on time every time) my oil light comes on all the time now.
i have noticed it happens only when the car is in first gear, or under 1000rpms. (basically when i am stopping, or stopped)
as soon as i give it some gas and the tach goes over 1000rpms, the light shuts off. there is no leak, and plenty of oil.

    anyone have any ideas?...
fyi, 4 quarts of synthetic every time.

    peace,

Sounds like a faulty oil switch (it's located in or around the oil pan). I had this happen to my other car. It may not be called a oil switch but a oil sensor or something similar.

I brought it to one shop and they replace the switch; light still came on. Took it to another shop; they replaced the switch; said it was bad. I took that bad switch back to the first shop and got my money back.

the oil switch is a fairly common failure on all mitsus.

have a decent tech check it out, or just buy one for 10 bucks and install it yourself.
