    Eclipse RS "Rotors/Drums" Swap?

With thanks to Pavel, I've become interested in what it would take to go from 4-lug Galant "rotors/drums" to Eclipse RS 5-lugs; with the hope of getting a nice Big-Brake set-up.

I'm not sure if I'm using the right terms, but y'all are smart, you know what I mean.

Any info/tips/tutorials regarding the swap, proper terminology, costs, etcetera would be appreciated!!

    THANKS...

    ONE

PS- I'm not sure if this topic would be "performance" or "customizing", forgive me...

1-Front and rear 5 lugs hubs (from the Eclipse)
2-Front disks brakes and rear drums (from the Eclipse)
Or you can find a Eclipse turbo in a junkyard and swap the rear disks brakes too.

    want to keep it Easy?

buy Galant GS rear end.. and work from there

you don't need big brakes in the Rear.
but going To disk Will make a significant difference.

and.. for What it's worth.. you can use Eclipse GS-T/X calipers(dsm "big brakes") on your galant.

    they're 2-piston instead of 1.

much cheaper, and you'll DEFINATELY notice the Change

ok so does this mean that we can use the GS-T or GSX front calipers directly from the eclipse or would it also be possible to buy a big brake setup for a GS-T or GSX and it fit on the Galant. Also what year eclipse can we take this from? Now that I think of it I guess you mean only the calipers will be able to be used right? If so then would we be able to buy some big rotors for a 4 lug setup and just get a big caliper setup. Sorry if this is confusing.

From what I have read over at 2gnt.com many of them have used GST/GSX calipers and said it made a huge difference, to the point they didnt even need a big brake upgrade. Well after searching for 20 minutes, I can't find the post where someone switched the rs/gs breaks to GST/GSX! I can't remember if I saw it on 2gnt.com or DSMtalk.com! But just switching to GST/GSX breaks make save some money. Also, for parts check out http://www.mitsubishigraveyard.com/.html Seems to be a popular place, they may be able to get you the parts you need for less. They are located in NY. Good Luck.

ok so I would be set if I bought just the GSX/GST front calipers? What year. What about rotors. Do I need to upgrade? What year eclipses can we take these from. And what exactly are we saving money on.

That's a great idea...I have never researched the amount of pistons. Also just for some more info...GST and 3000GT use the same rotors. So probably they also share the same calipers.

But wouldn't GST rotors be bigger than the galant?

    hmm..

I have this idea, I know that the hubs of the 2g eclipse will fit perfectly in our galants.

Now using the 2g eclipse hubs, slap on some 3000gt rotors and calipers! then you will have a cheap 4 pot braking system that would make riceboys cry in shame

actually i plan to try it on my ride I now have the 2g eclipse hubs. all i need is the rotors and calipers btw, dont try this mod if your mag size is smaller thn r17. I have r18's

Calling craig!! dude have you tried this mod yet on your kickAss ride?!

wow.. I haven't been on here in A while.. sorry

you can use the calipers from a DSM (2g I know for Sure)
and get them on your galant... you just have To flip them, and swap left To right (if you do it, you'll see)

you'll have just upgraded to a 2-pot calipers.. for less than $100

you can even keep your stock discs

and.. yeah you can use DSM upgrades.. but there's really no need..
just go with the DBA's and a new set of calipers.

    I've not done this.... *yet*
as soon As the galant is *FAST* it will get new brakes.. and Some additional suspension Stuff

    hey :)

well i am actually running 2 pot brakes now which came form a galant vr4. Its still not enough though and i want more! bwahahahaha!!!

well the eclipse hubs fit well with the V6 driveshafts. so all im waiting for now is the gto rotors and calipers. hehehe

btw, what can you guys suggest for increased handling performance? I already got eibachs mated to kyb gas shocks and r18 mags with yokohama advanced vehicle system tires and front strut tower bar. What more can i do to turn harder and faster?
